Updated listing. Some of you may find this list useful in planning your builds. All dates are in US format (month/day/year). I will try to update this list each month. List is in alphabetical order.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO LIST YOUR GROUP BUILD IN THE “GROUP BUILD SCHEDULE” AT THE TOP OF THE THREAD PAGE. MAKES IT A WHOLE LOT EASIER TO FIND YOUR GROUP BUILD.
I don’t think there are any more in the pipeline to start until that USMC GB, so hopefully it can be trimmed down a little as some end.
I have been eyeing that marine Corps GB. I thin I only have one kit, I will try and get in on that later next year if I can get my other commitments done, looks like it will be an interesting GB.
Yes, the USMC GB doesn’t start until November. I did include a few that haven’t started, but they were starting so soon (first part of August) I included them anyway.
And we’ll see if any of those group builds end. Group builds around here have a habit of going… and going… and going… [;)]

PS> And they’re lasting longer… and longer… and longer… But with modeler’s being stretched so thin by entering so many, that’s to be expected.
You and me both Kafziel…I’ve got enough to keep me going until then luckily.
Bish…we’d love to have you but I understand other commitments.
While I don’t think the number of good, interesting, active group builds should be limited, I do think the time span should be less than what a lot seem to be. It seems like when a group build lasts a year it starts off strong but fizzles out only to be lit on fire a couple times. It’s disappointing to see but I’ve witnessed it many times. Of course when you have so many group builds they tend to be longer so more people can finish on time because of other group builds.
I am getting ahead of myself at the minute, so hopefully I can jump in. I have a MV-22 osprey my other half got me for my last birthday and I know she would like me to build the kits she got.
I think 8 to 12 months are about right for most GB’s. I would rather a GB is to short and is extended a couple of months if its really popular than it just dies a slow death because its to long. But the biggest issues in my view are a) repeating the same subjects over and over again. In general I think its better to have at least 2 years before repeating the subject. b) planning, or lack there of. Waking up in the morning and starting a XX GB because you had a dream last night generally doesn’t work. Putting out a feeler a good couple of months before your planned start date not only makes sure you have enough interest, but also helps iron out any questions as to what is and isn’t allowed so by the time you get to the GB its all sorted and its doesn’t look like it was planned on the back of a stamp.c) over committing. And GB doesn’t need lots of people to commit to it, it just need those that to at least carry out their build.
I am glad the GB’s here are not controlled by the powers that be as they are on some sites. I know one I visited had polls as to what the next GB would be, which of course means only the most popular subjects will see the light of day. Here we are trusted to run it ourselves.
But as the saying goes, with great power comes great responsibility.
I needed to check up on the end dates of some GB’s I enrolled in and decided this thing could use a bump since it climbed far back where nobody really sees/looks.
Also, I apologize I’m just now seeing your post now Bish, but as always everything you said makes sense.
be careful how you phrase the feeler. i did that with a broad “anybody do one of these?” and one response was “Yes you are!” this is a good list. i agree with the year time frame though i did shorten my BRAILLE SCALE 1/72 to 6 months since, at least 1/72 armor, tends to build faster than 1/35. that said we have a couple of folks, including me, with multiple entries.
