I voted for braille scale because thats what I build. All the reasons others mentioned (mostly space) but really my “favorite” are the larger scales 1/35 and up. Theres just so much more to see and detail. Making a 1/72 model that holds it’s own against the larger brothers is a challenge I get into though.
I like 1/72 the most. It fits my budget, I have no trouble handling the tiny parts, and they store and paint up really well!!
My first tank model was 1-25 T34. After i did paper-model in this scale and came one day when i `ve bought first 1-25 plastic kit. Fantastic day.I now that for this scale is a problem with figures and accessories, not so many kits like in 1-35,but just 1-25 is my.
1/35. Like others have said I found it easier to scratchbuild details and it’s more tolerent on the exact scale accuracies. 1/48 is kind of pushing the evelope and my hands are not good enough for really small parts.
1/48 scale is mine. I got hooked as a kid on the detail that the Bandi kits had back in the late 70’s. I loved the interior details that were included and the instructions translation from japanese to english was always good for a laugh. They also looked pretty cool on my dads Lionel train lay out. It is great to see the new releases from Tamiya hitting the shelves.
1/35th is my favorite. Detail is easier to add and see. Plus the size is
not to big or too small .

1/72 for:
- Size is perfect for wargaming
- Cost
Followed closely by 1/285 (microarmour)
Here’s what I’m talking about:

Infact, I’d say that my favourite is 1/285, but it wasn’t on the poll. I do more 1/72 kits than Microarmour packs, but I actually enjoy 1/285 more and would consider them my favourite.
1/72 at the moment because of the challenge and the price
For what it is worth, I only build 1/48. If there were no 1/48 scale kits I wouldn’t be building models. Like some others mentioned I started with Aurora and then got hooked quickly by Bandai, so 1/48 has sentimental appeal for me. I purchased a few 1/35 scale kits about 20 years agon and haven’t finished them. 1/35 seems too big and awkward for me. I find too much detail to be a negative factor–almost as if you are trying to build an exact duplicate in miniature instead of a model which is representative of the vehicle, not a duplicate.
1/35 is perfect scale for me…!!
1/72 - For the most part it’s the only scale I build for armor and aircraft (and 1/76 but that’s really almost the same)
They take up less space, cost less and I like the fact that I have a constant scale for both aircraft and armor.
With all the stuff coming out from eastern Europe and China these days, pretty soon there will be a greater selection of types available in the small scale!
I’m really enjoying building 1/72 scale armour. The kits are relatively inexpensive, there seem to be more and more of them (including AM and PE kits) being produced every day and they take up very little room when I finish them.
Right now, it’s 1/48 scale Tamiya. It’s what got me back into modeling armor, though I also model different scale aircrafts, ships, etc. For 1/48 scale armor, it principally due to shelf space for display purposes, and Tamiya’s detail.
I believe 1/35 scale has more selection and a little more detail though.
I like 1/35 armor just because of 1 size i find them easy to handle even after all of the[censored][banghead][BH] & more [censored] with the PE but its not so bad now thanks to all of you that have helped me. But i love doing 200mm figs as the eyesight is`nt as good as it was 25 years ago. My two sons say that i look like Mr magoo when i put the glases on so i can see what im doing.[:D][:D][:D]
1/35 is the best compromise (for me) between detail and shelf space. Space permitting, I might someday move up to 1/25, but never 1/16, which seems almost too big. At that scale, things begin to assume an almost toylike quality.

1/72
I can fit more in my cramped and cluttered shelves.
I’m not really an Armor modeler, but I’ve been building 1/48 Aircraft for a long time. I find the new 1/48 Armor kits interesting since they match the scale of my AC.

You just can’t beat the availability of products and variety of 1/35th.
I like 1/35th , because thats what i started out in and so thats the scale all of my armor kits are made in . I like the size as well.

1/35 for the reasons that others have mentioned over and over again. I tried 1/72 and 1/48, but I just didn’t like those scales. Smaller scales don’t seem to allow the model to look as cool as the subject. That’s just my opinion though.
