Your favorite armor building scale and why?

I build 1/72 scale kits. I live in a small house in town that was built in there earlier 1900’s so there is not much room. The 1/35 scale kits are nice with better detail and much more variety but the model makers are starting to bring more of a variety to the braille scale. 1/72 costs less and takes up less space. [2c]

I’d have suggested that you have a button for “no favorite.” I don’t have one, because I like models, period. If a 1/285th scale tank model is well-done, I want to build it. Same goes for a 1/8th scale model.

1/35 to me shows the best cost-details relationship

talking of armour because many details disapear with other scales.

imagine on a dora 1/144 against a dora 1/35 many details are lost

Yes, imagine a 1/35th scale Dora, and you will quickly see why there is such thing as 1/144th scale.

If you mean fav. scale to build , armor 1/35, aircraft 1/48.Because I’m old and stubborn and that’s what I started in many moons ago.Actually it was armor 1/32 back then.

I’m with Larry though as far as nice kits and builds. If it’s well done I like 'em all.

the first is a dora 1/144

and… 1/35 scale

i know the size is just a little big ( 6 feet long ,2 feet high, 1 feet wide ) but the differrence in detail is like to see the moon with the simple eyes and see the moon with telescope.

anyway the best scale is the scale where you enjoy more and feel confortable.

cheers

1:16.

I started out with 1:35. The lack of adjustable suspension and track bothered me.

I tried 1:25 and 1:16. The choice are few. But 1:16 is the only scale big enough for realistic R/C model which runs like a real tank.

1:35 rules…

When I’m at home, I like to build 1/35th for the reasons everyone else has hit on. Now that I’m on the road, I want to get back to 1/72nd scale for: pricing, size, and ease of movement. With many of the newer kits you get some outstanding detail for the size. I’m not building “seriously” right now- it’s just an escape from the daily grind of being in the middle of an Iraqi desert. I’m just thankful that this time around, 15 years later, that I’m not living in a foxhole!!! lol

I am blocked to all your free-hosted images by Websense, but a 1/35th scale Dora is ridiculous. The moon analogy is a good example of why. Looking at the moon through a telescope is obviously less detailed than having the moon right in your backyard.

Would you like to have the moon in your backyard?

ridiculous a Dora 1/35 scale… hummm more than 5000 pieces is a BIG MODEL
ridiculous why? only have been about 8 doras 1/35 in all the times…

RARE its ok but considering the other factor: the cost… just the linedrawings costed me 100 dlls plus until now 750 hrs and more than 4000 pieces , i dont let abandoned a project, allways go ahead.

I have the linedrawings for almost all the german railgunas and that is my target very focused: THE MOST COPMPLETE COLLECTION OF GERMAN RAILGUNS 1/35 SCALE

and actually had karlmorser in rail transport, locomotives BR52, BR86, Ti3, Vic 75 arriving, BR57 in scratch in progress, leopolds, all the flatcars at the market, tankwagon, personelwagon in scratch, A Siegfried Railgun almost ready to finish, Kurze brunno in progress, Dora in progress, flakwagons, etc…
in my christmas list, are locomotive BR64 and the BR52 with different tender.
and the linedrawings for more…

A guy who was working for many years making an aircraft carrier ( If i remember was the U.S.S: enterprise) with all the jets, crew( REALLY WOOOOOW ), one of the most impressive work i saw in my life as the ships at the DEUTSCHE MUSEUM in Munich in 1/72 are impressive models for the degree of details
the degree of detail is higher, and really inspires that kind of MODELS, but i know the limitations of space, time and what a wife think about the hobby are decisive to make a model in higher scales… small models.

in my case I have the time, space ( 7x6 mts dedicated to the hobby ) and my wife support me with my hobbie.
and my little girls who loves me … what more can i wish…

hakunna matata,

enjoy the modelling…

Because it’s too big, of course.

i do 1/72 and 1/35
i do 1/72 for storage issues dozens on the shelf
i do 1/35 for details and selection they are more spead out in the house like 2 on the tv 1 on an end table
1 on another tv etc
