Thats why I stopped using them. The slide show of my GB badges that I made on Photobucket did not work and since I coud only post one or two I just figured “why bother?”… I partake in the Group Builds, but do not need to keep score.
Stik, constructor, everybody - I can make all your group build banner dreams come true. Yes, unlimited banners on your signature line, if you’d like … [whstl]. The secret is combining them all into one photo file. I have been meaning to bring this up on the forum, but have been spacing it off … maybe now is the time [;)].
Sweet!
Nice find there Randy[Y] I did not know that Hasegawa made a 1/72 Whale[:O] and $20 is a good price for that [t$t]
it was originally $50. still a good size a for 72nd scale. heres a picture to show the actually size. sandy is a 48scale. wish more companies would look into this subject. specially a destroyer.
According to their unit history, VAQ-131 “Lancers” were deployed on the Kitty Hawk in 1968, in the Gulf of Tonkin.
That’s a heck of a score, and I’m sure a great model. The decals are probably kind of dodgy, but that’s fixable.
I’m not much of a badge guy either, because my posts would look like the chest of a Russian General. GB’s are all I do, except ships. So don’t sweat it if I don’t use it.
tce one more time you ought to rethink moving us all to the GB forum. There would be a LOT more traffic.

tcepilot - Bondo’s right about that. I’ll second his suggestion. It’s going to be a good build: It could be a huge build, too.
bondoman - A senior veteran of the FSM forum should be wearing some salad, I think. How about just pinning on some of the more recent ones? [;)]
Ord
bondoman- yeah, i will proble opt for different decals. hasegawa decals actually aren’t that bad. compared to tamiya, they are a winner. i’ll proble just end up using the kit markings.
Ok sorry I was at a birthday party so I was out for 12 hours, yep 12 hours! lol so is randypandy in?
Pilot, I agree with the other guys. I think we would get more exposure in the GB forum. It would be a shame not to get as much traffic as possible. I really feel like this is one of the better GB themes to pop up lately. This and Steel Cats upcoming in September should be really fun for the armor and airplane guys. Right now we have a month to get deep into a kit and still commit there.
tcepilot- did you party hard? lol
aww screw it, im in. hasegawa 1/72 skywarrior
i’ll start when my F-5 and searfire 17 are done. construction are done on both, they just need color and beautiful markings.
Yeah Randy! Make that plane do your bidding. That’s an interesting subject. Can’t say I know much about that plane.
Ok I’ll PM Mr. Kidwell and move it, but you should know that I’m a younger modeler… I put more work into these kits then a bum trying to get money on the side of a Kansas road! ( Ok that was odd to say!) I’m 15 years old and working on my builds 5 hours a day.
Hey pilot, age doesn’t, or shouldn’t anyhow matter. This GB will take off if you’re a good host. Provide feedback, keep the banter going, keep the completion section in the first post updated…it will be awesome.
So it’s time for me to get some progress pics up…
First, let me just say that I love the Phantom, and Vietnam era air combat in general…
Here’s a one of two pictures on my bedroom wall…an E Phantom…
The kit…as I mentioned this is probably the 3-4th boxing I’ve owned…
The decals…I’ve had these for years…waiting for the perfect build…it will take a lot of dedication and hard work to make this kit worthy:
A little Phantom porn…not the $5.95 price tag…this is a first printing…I love it like a child…lol
Seriously guys? Date and trademark right on the stabs!!!
Notice the tabs for attaching the stabs have been removed…well here’s why…not fitting flush enough for me…I am going to have to pin them…
Finally…I got the base layer of paint on the pit and fuse walls…
I’ve got the detail painting of the pit underway…pics tomorrow sometime…thanks for looking guys.
Looks great so far so good [;)] I’m doing the same decal sheet almost*, mine has the BnW stripes from the kit sheet… or I can do the "Candy Cane Air Force’’ scheme?
Pilot. I like the red and white stripes on the kit decals, but I just don’t like to deal with fuselage band decals. I can never get the to line up right. If I am able to make this kit look good I envision myself building 30 of them. That decal sheet has markings for three planes. I don’t want to waste them I need to put them in a window to bleach the yellowing out.
Yeah I really HATE those stipes they are a pain, but I don’t know where to get a new decal sheet right now, I want to do olds bird though…
