Self Propelled Artillery/Mortar GB 2006-2007

looks like a nice piece ewc seen any U.S. sp guns around i will browse through squadron all day today tofind something my LHS is closed :frowning:

Whoa!! I’m sorry Matt… I should be more attentive [oops]

I started my AS-90 yesterday. I worked on the Turret yesterday, and there have been a few fit problems mainly with the storage and ammo boxes but not too bad. I started the wheels and suspension today, and there ejector pin marks on all of the road wheels and sprockets, but you can’t see them when you put them together so i’m not going to bother filling them. I won’t post progres pics until i’m further into the build.

Will

Good to know that you cut some plasticvWill [:)]

I didn’t started yet, I’m waiting to be in the “waiting the paint to dry” stage of my Panzerjager I before cutting plastic. I did inspect my kit though, and it will probably involve more work than what I initially expected [;)]

Is it necessary to post pictures of my build ? I am unable to do that .[:)]

That is the established practice with GBs, to post build up and finished pics. Could you get a friend or family member to lend you their Camera next time they come over maybe? I’m entering a Tamiya 1/35 Wespe as well as the AS-90, I got it for free yesterday from a friend who doesn’t build any longer.

Will

You’ve got a Tamiya Wespe for free!!! Geee! I’d like to have good friends like that [swg]

Ha, its actually my friends dad that owns the kits, he wanted to give me more. I said next time. What else was there (no joke he wants me to take what I want): (All 1/35) Academy M-18 Hellcat, Tamiya Sherman, Dragon Sturmtiger, Dragon Nashorn, Tamiya Flak88, One Dragon and one other Panzer 111, Dragon (I think) Flakpanzer), and the German WW11 tank with 4MGs in a funny looking turret on top.

Hi

Is a GMC like the M12 considered Self-Propelled Artillery? I just purchased the Academy M12 1/35 kit.

I already entered my M108 as my 2nd subject for the Italeri GB, so if the M12 doesn’t meet the SPA criteria, I’ll scrounge up another kit. Not a problem though because it gives me an excuse (not that I need one) to search for something else to submit for this GB

Thanks,

Larry

As far as I know, it does qualify Larry. I don’t know much on American vehicle, but usually, a 155 mm is a howitzer and it’s self propelled in this case.

Yes it is a Self-propelled Artillery. I built this kit not so long ago and it is a really good kit. You’ll love it. The only thing missing is some figures to go with it. I would like to see those man with their hand on their ears just before that big monster shoots.

Yep, its SP arty, I’ll put you down.

Will

Thanks a lot. This will be a great GB.

Larry

just a hypothetical Question would a DUKW with the 105mm howitzer fit this build? I may try that out as a second build after my Hornisse [:D] I have the Italeri kit in my stash

TTFN

Was it used in the indirect fire role?

Will

Will ,

I’ve been pondering buying a digital camera for a while and getting a printer so this GB will probably help me make up my mind . Any suggestions on a digital camera ?

Don’t take too much notice of my sugestions, because I’m no electronics expert, but I would go with something with at least 3.2 (better go more than that though) megapixels, and with a good zoom (optical and digital).

Will

Will , thanks for the suggestion.

Ok here are the build up pics for the Wespe and AS-90, the former has been excellent, but the trumpy AS-90s fit and ejector pin marks have been average. (the AS-90s wheels have been done too)

Will

I’ve washed the sprues of my M12 kit. It’s not much…but it’s a start.

I like how your serialize the photos of your build Will. It illustrates well what gets accomplished at each step. It’s looking sharp so far.
