Wanted to share some of my art
this was my main hobby for a while - although my mean art teachers discouraged me, I am still proud of how far I came and it makes me smile
Comrade Shmersky,
I used to doodle a lot back in high school and college. I still have a sketchbook that was part of our Art 101 class. But I mostly drew spaceships. ![]()

I had the same thing last night! Panang is soooooo delicious.
It is! I can’t get the same taste at home even with using Panang curry paste from Thailand.
Comrade Shmersky,
Please don’t allow one teacher’s opinion to discourage you from pursuing your interests. I was a public school teacher for over 30 years and unfortunately there are a "few"teachers out there who should still think BEFORE they speak to students. The same thing happened to my youngest son in high school and he hasn’t touched a sketch pad since!
Hello Dora! You look fine in your raincoat!
I love dogs. Seeing this has made me smile ![]()
Looks like you have “sous-chef” looking over your shoulder. The meat that you’re grilling looks delicious too!
Completed my CAP checkride today, I can now officially wear the pilot wings on my uniform. It’s taken me far longer to get this done than I wanted (joined to fly, wound up spending all my time supporting the cadet squadron), but it’s done. WOOHOO
That’s big news @gomeral! Congrats!
Great job. Anytime you pass a check ride is a big deal. No matter how many times you’ve done one, there is always at least a little bit of pressure to deal with. Congrats on this achievement.
Reasons to smile: 1,100 miles of distance now between me and my ex.
gomeral, CONGRATS! That is such a major accomplishment. Well done!
I took a break from the 'net to focus on my studies last week (I had 5 tests!!), and i missed you guys. But my break seems to have paid off! I had one test every day of the week ![]()
Algebra II/Trig - got a 95% on the hardest exam of the year!! math is very difficult for me, and this came as a complete surprise because I am a B-student usually.
Comparative government/politics AP - 94% one of the highest grades in the class!! I love this subject and it is related to my future college major/career so its great!
Chemistry - 92%, I hate this subject so this was a surprise (i got a 78 on my last test…oof). Now I have an A in chem so this is great!!
English - My grade is not in yet, but someone said I had the best presentation in the class! my public speaking skills paid off and I was able to engage with the audience a ton!
Japanese - probably went well. I memorized the dialogue and did my best to speak without pauses.
anyway, excited to be back and to have a momentary break…
@Comrade_Shmersky, congrats on a productive week. The grades achieved are definitely a reason to smile. ![]()
My reason to smile is the successful fixing of my paint dryer. ![]()
Now all I need is to find someone who sells motivation wholesale. Need to replenish my store of motivation so I can get back to working on the models on my bench. ![]()
Comrade,
Congrats on some awesome midterms scores! I say you should “reward” yourself with a new kit!
