I don’t have a B-29 in the stash, but I do have a B-17G, which I may dig out next. I was debating about prying off the canopy to fix those hazy areas, but I may have damaged more by doing so- part was glued with styrene glue. Oh, well, overall it still came out well.

Well done…nice job on the camo pattern and glazings…that is a BIG MOJO…the colors for the two-tone scheme do seem a bit off in shade though?
I used new MM acrylic RLM colours, and I am not sure what the “real” colours look like. Perhaps it is the poor lighting in my basement.

I’ve built 2, one of them had really bad decals, they were splinterred all over on the sheet, and that was when it was spankin new, I had to put together some spares. My bro had also gotten one, also spankin new with the same problem. For the one that worked out for me, the decals split when moved off the sheet, but I was able to piece them together on the model. I think I’ll go straight to the A/M for my next one.

Hey Rob,
I used a No. 18 xacto, I put the cutting edge along the seam and slowly rocked it back and forth, and moved around the canopy cutting it slowly all the way around. It takes a while but it comes off eventually. I used testors liquid glue that had been dry for a couple weeks, and it came off fine, just go slow, it takes several trips around.
when you get ready for that B-17G I can send you a LOT of photo good photos of 909 taken by a modeler for modelers.

Rob, being new at this, how did you get that excellent high-lighting of the rivets/metal sheeting on the bottom? Is that done with a wash and at what point do you apply? It really makes it come alive.

Julez; always an honour to get a thumbs up from you! What have you been working on lately?
Reasoned: after painting the base colour and applying a gloss coat of Future and decalling, I used a mixture of black acrylic Tamiya paint, with water and several drops of dishsoap. With a fine brush, let the mixture flow into the panels/rivet depressions, let it dry for a few minutes, then gently wipe the excess off with a dry or slighly dampened Q-tip, trying to follow air flow. If it is really damp, the excess is entirely removed, but if it is dry, a slight streaking will be formed, giving a worn/used/dirty appearance to the surface, if that is what you are aiming for. It can take quite a while to do this, especially on a big plane. I also applied pigments (chalk dust) also to give it a worn appearance.
