Pulled out the kit last night, forgot that I had bought several detail sets to go on this one. Resin control surfaces, prop, etc. Looking at my reference material, I notice I have zero photos of the cockpit colors, etc. Anyone have a good website for references? Hate to waste all this nice Eduard photoetch.
hey guys, can I join the build. I have the Tamiya 1/48th bubbletop kit. I am modeling it after my friends hun hunter XIV. Is that ok.
[#welcome] t28B! I’ve seen a few pics of Hun Hunter models that look really, really sharp. I also have a few close up pics of the Hun Hunter XVI that I took at an airshow. If you want me to post them, just ask.
My “practice” t-bolt is comming really fast now. It’s got a nice Future coat, and I might get to the decals tonight. Right now all the small parts are getting their touch up attention.
I put it next to my Academy razorback last night, and noticed a huge height difference between the two kits. Any idea which one is correct?
Joshua
thanks for the offer to post the pics but I have plenty of them. the plane is in my hometown and I pass by it everyday I go to school. I have decals for the Hun Hunter XIV but I will have to cut them to make them like my friends real plane. He took me up in his t28 so I thought I would build him a model of his P-47 to thank him.
If its not to late Ill join with a 1/48 Monogram Razorback. Ill paint it up as a 348th fg “Fiery Ginger”. I am only in 1 GB atm and Ill be done before this starts. Also Ive been wanting to BMF a P-47 so if I find decals I like I may do both or drop 1 not to sure yet and Ive got some time to find decals. Although I hear a voice calling me to do Col Eagleston’s bird…
[#welcome] 9x19mm! We don’t start for another month, so you’ve still got a while to decide on your builds.
t28B- that’s really cool! You must have some good friends.
I finished my “practice” P-47 this evening. Pics can be seen at this thread: http://www.finescale.com/FSM/CS/forums/548436/ShowPost.aspx

Hello, this is 9x19mm apperantly I used a email address that is not know to me when I signed on and cant reclaim my old account. So… Im still in and resumed posting. If you would change from 9x19mm to Living Legend and also I decided on Tamiya’s P-47 with Maj.Eagleston’s markings from 353 fs 354 fg.
My name changed too. I was newtothegame, but am now gwaihir. Also, I think I changed my mind and will do a razorback instead of a bubbletop.
Thanks,
Leon
Is it to late for me to join?
John, the start date isn’t until Jan… it will be up to Jabbe of course.
Welcome to the build grandadjohn! What are you going to be making?
Joshua
I will be building either Tamiya’s new M if I can get it or I will do Academy’s D model bubble-top, markings are still up in the air. I want to do Academy’s as a fun build while Tamiya’s will be serious. The will most likely be OOB
Ok guys…I’ve got everything I need and ready to go. I’m leaving for Florida next week, and since I will be there the entire month, and will have lots of spare time on my hands, I am going to attempt to start this build on the road. It’s going to be a hassle to drag supplies and tools a thousand miles away, but It’ll drive me nuts to be down there that long and not have something to work on. I’ve already built both Tamiya kits and thought I’d try the Hase. I got this kit for a song at a club auction, and although the exteroir detail is comparable to Tamiya, the interior needs some help. So, I’ve picked up some AM to try to improve this kit. I will have access to a computer so I can check in from time to time, however I’m not sure whether I’ll be able to post progress pics.
Looking forward to getting started,
Dragonfly
Hey, is it too late to join in on this? If not i’ll build a bubbletop, not sure which one or in what scale yet tho!
Hi folks, here’s my T-bolt on the bench in bits.
I’m building a P-47D in D-day markings and heres the parts list:
Kit-1/48 Tamiya P-47 Razorback
Aftermarket-
Aeromaster decals-“American jabos”
Eduard PE-P-47 razorback parts 1,2&3
Eduard EZ masks.
I know the GB start isn’t until 1st Jan, however I thought I’d make a small start with a little pre-painting, hope you guys don’t mind! If I get this one finished to a good standard (you guys will be the judge!) before Feb. 4th I’ll enter it into a competition. So with all this AM stuff, I’ll take my time and enjoy the build.
Hope all of you have a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Darren.
Looks good Darren. With that kit and those extras, it should be a really fun build for you. When you get to it, I’ll be curious how the invasion stripes go for you. I am currently doing a ‘warm up’ 1/72 tamiya with full stripes and am pulling my hair out trying to get around the razorback and keep it looking mostly straight. In the end, I’ll probably just settle on the nobody’s perfect idea and often the actual planes’ stripes weren’t perfect either, but…(I wish I were perfect [:(])
Anyway, looking forward to watching your build.
Leon
I think I will join up, 1/72 Academy P-47D Razor Back. I am going to make it for Lt, Cecil O. Dean, 317th Spring 1944 Italy.
I’ve gotten Academy’s 1/48 scale P-47D bubbletop, thinking about a “what if” markings and naming it after an old girlfriend I had more years ago then I care to remember. Will save the serious build until I can check out Tamiya’s M model that hasn’t been released yet.
Well, I was at the LHS the other day and picked up Hase’s “348 Fighter Group” The first time I saw Maj. William D. Dunham’s scorecard I vowed to model his bird “Bonnie”. After a long wait the time has come. I will also throw in a Monogram kit as well and do both sets that came in the box. It is Lt. Marvin E. Grant’s Sylvia. Cant wait for January. If you would Jabbe please update my build.
Legend, personel question, if I may, what are the major cross streets were you live, think you live close to me. I’m at 19th Ave and Thunderbird
