Looks excellent! Accurate and immaculate.
No decals. All painted. I cut the stencils for the hinomaru with my Silhouette portrait vinyl cutter.
I have a cricut and have yet to truly understand how to use it. Wondering if I should have gotten the silhouette instead.
Nice p40! I have a silhuette that i got for xmas. Just made my first successful canopy mask.
Excellent. A vinyl cutter makes the job of masking so much easier.
Great looking P-40 Frank.
The E has always been my favorite variant of the P-40 and I am embarrassed to say I don’t have one–flown under any flag–on my shelf. I am crossing my fingers that Kotare will release a 1/32 ‘E’
I will update the roster now!
Hi All, My apologies for not being around much. I think I have the roster page updated with all the completed builds; however, If you have completed your build and I missed it, please let me know and I will update the roster. Everyone is doing great work. Hope to get some bench time soon and contribute myself! Happy Modeling!
Got the Val fuselage buttoned up. Some finicky bits and stuff to align. Too bad the interior won’t be seen.

More progress - just love this wing

Little more work on the Val

Your interior looks great on that Val @keavdog ! ![]()
Thanks! Moving along
IJN Gray Green on the Val.

A little history quiz: what was the largest warship sunk directly by the USS New Jersey, BB-62, in her career?
Not the largest she engaged directly, that was the IJN CL Katori, which almost hit her and Iowa with a torpedo.
Nor the two IJN destroyers she hit, but were sunk later by Iowa and USN cruisers.
It was Auxiliary Subchaser Shonan Maru, and I’m going to build her. Here is a picture of her model alongside the ship that blew her up.
And her blowing up.
Awesome bit of history. Great live action shot. I imagine they didn’t need to use the big guns
Lots of 5". If she hadn’t blown up she’d have sunk from the weight of shells!
These are to 1/700 scale. USS New Jersey, BB-62, the Black Dragon, in 1944, and the auxiliary subchaser Shonan Maru, No. 15.
The Shonan Maru has a cast resin hull and a few details, the rest is folded photo-etch and a few pieces of sprue and scrap. Needed good magnification and strong lighting and patience to do the PE.
Getting there

Since I finished the captured P-40E, I’ve been looking for another airplane for this group build. To satisfy that urge I have ordered the vintage Tamiya 1/48 scale Ki-84 Hayate (Code named “Frank”). I know it’s an old kit, but I’m good with old kits, and it can still look as good as newer molds of modern kits. And another reason for the purchase, well, “Frank” . . .
That’s a great kit. Built that one a couple years ago. First try at hairspray chipping - mixed results.

Your build looks very good, keavdog. The paint chipping is not overdone which is good. I hope mine looks as good.
