Japanese Group Build XV

Rules

*Start Date January 1, 2026

*End Date December 31, 2026

*Japanese civilian or military subjects (which I’ll define as operating under the Japanese flag, aka a captured P-40 flown by a Japanese pilot would be kosher)

*Cross-overs are welcome

***Pre-started are fine as long as they’re under 10-20% finished (light assembly)

***Any ‘roll-over’ subjects from previous Japanese Group Builds on this site are welcome as well

*** No cut-off date for entry, you can enter on Dec 30 if you can build the model in a day**

And most important have fun guys and gals!

Glad to have you again buddy. Keep the streak alive!

Sounds good! Most folks will be in that boat at this stage of the GB.

Sign me up. Have a couple of kits in the stash.

Well as it turns out, I have a Revell A6M5 Zero 1/32 in my to-build stash for 2026, so please sign me up.

I want to be a participant but haven’t a clue as to what I want to build. I’ve never built anything Japanese, love military models, but would not want to tread over the same old tired modeling ground. Something historically significant to WW2. I’m begging for suggestions!

I do not agree with this concept of old tired modeling ground especially when you say that you have not built anything within the subject genre. Any kit you build will be unique to how you build it. You really have to find your own subject IMO because only you will know what inspires you. Hope you come up with something. Will add you to the roster for now as TBD :+1:

My F-4 will be rolling over for sure. Thank you.

Sorry, I meant no offense. My intent is to get suggestions for subjects that rarely get attention by modelers and not the usual Zeros and Bettys. With my lack of familiarity of rarer Japanese WW2 equipment, I don’t know what to look for, hence the request for suggestions.

There are several kits out there that would be “new and different”. Here are a couple that I found in my search for the right subject. Feel free to use them. My plan is to go in a different direction.

No offense was taken my friend. Just don’t want you to lock yourself out of a subject for no particular reason.

Here is an option. I have literally seen this kit built once in my life
I actually had this kit in my stash and sold it (now kicking myself). I think it’s the best looking Japanese bomber of the war.
