Thanks for the advice. I have ordered the Mr color. I like Mr color, especially the leveling thinner, but it was hard to get consistently. It seems like that has changed for the better. It’s nice to actually get the colors intended for the F-2A.
I look forward to seeing your F-1. That’s a nice looking aircraft. I’ve seen it referred to as the “Japanese jaguar”, but to my eyes it has a more refined and sleeker look.

The sea colors look great. Heres a 48th F-2B

That looks great! I’m really liking this paint scheme.

Remind me, did we need to post links to our build progress or was that optional?

Sharing your progress adds greatly to the enjoyment of the group build, Chris.

Ok, was not sure if it was a requirement or not. First time participating in this sort of group build.

Will be posting updates over on this topic.

Yes, progress photos are mandatory! You don’t have to post of picture of every part you glue on , but an update once in a while would be nice. That is 1/2 the fun of doing a GB.

That said, this is interesting… Now, in the old days (before the empire…) you would just reply to the main group build thread with your progress photos and updates so everybody’s work was in the same spot. I still like this way of doing things the best. However, since with the new forum design you can link to other threads in a post, you certainly can do a separate thread and link it here in the GB thread. It’s up to the participant which way you would like to do it. I can even put the build thread links right on the roster page next to folks names so others can quickly find your build.

Since the forum in new, perhaps use this year as a bit of a test case. Allow people to use either method, and at the end of year either through some sort of poll or comment period, figure out which would be best to use moving forward.

Making progress on the F-2. I did miss part of a step where I’m supposed to remove a couple of things, but now I’ve got the intake on, and I don’t think I can do it cleanly now. I found the instructions for the JASDF weapons set (Hase) on scale mates, so I now know the operational colors instead of practice loads for the ASM-2 and AAM-3. I will be going with operational.
I found some cool photos of phantoms with what I believe are an/alq-131 ecm pods on them. In the front sparrow bay on a EJ in sea camo and wing mounted on rf-4e’s. Both olive drab. I can’t find the sea camo picture again, but here are some other:

Looking good @Ranger_Chris61 . Are you planning on painting it white or just going with the white plastic? Hey, some folks do it

Of course I am going to paint it. I am planning on going with the included scheme, so white over silver.

Sign me up for a Tamiya 1/35 Type 61. Started it last year for the previous group build last year. I hope I still have all the parts for it!

Hi, all. Sign me up for a 1/72 Tamiya Ki-61-1d Hien. I’ve been gone far too long, time to get back into things!

That makes me tempted to pull out my 1/48 Ki-61 and build it.

Say, I started a Japanese truck at the beginning of the year, so can I play?

It’s Fujimi’s Mitsubishi Fuso Canter in 1/32 scale.

Here’s some work on the Type 61 I did for last years GB that I never had a chance to upload before the forums went down for me.

Would like to start back on it today but I’ve come down with the flu so probably won’t manage anytime at the desk.
