Japanese Group Build XIV (2025)

Here is where the kit is at the moment.

It’s a pretty nice model, not very complicated yet fairly well detailed. The kit comes with milk crates and oil drums.

Looks great RG. Are you going to weather this build? I will definitely be along for the entire build.
Enjoy!

My apologies gentlemen. It appears I missed a few recent posts. Seems like a few more of our friends want to join in on the fun. Now let’s see… I’ve got @RealG and @gomeral that need added to the roster. Hopefully I did not miss anyone else. Welcome gents. Looking forward to seeing the ki-61 and the Fuso Canter!

I’ve made some progress on my F-2A. I got everything painted that needs to be shallow ocean blue. I still need to create some masks for the deep ocean blue. Moving along, slow, but moving.

Got it masked for the deep ocean blue. Fingers crossed I can get it done in the next couple of days and done well.

Looks good, Greg. I have every confidence you will do it well.

Thanks John, looks pretty decent so far. Went a little too dark where I had to do some dust repair and repaint. In a couple of days I’ll come back and mask off the nose and metal band around the exhaust.

Oh, nice paint scheme!

I would like to take part as well in JGB XIV. Looking at the Hasegawa F1M2 ‘Pete’ as the start.

So I have decided on markings for the “Pete” I am planning. I will go with the markings I had on the original “Pete” I had built years ago. It was destroyed when a shelf collapsed at a museum it was displayed in. These will be for an F1Ms based aboard the seaplane tender, IJN Sanyo Maru in 1942.

Box opened and parts have been cleaned up. Now onward with the build!!

This was the original build back in 2004.

Count me in as I have a Revell 1/144 Junkers G-38 that I’ll build as flown by the Japanese Army.

I got the nose gray, and the tail metal, so if I can find the time, I’ll clear coat it. I’m going to try alclad aqua Kleer for the first time. Wish me luck. If anyone has some suggestions, feel free to help me out. Thanks.

I have had a bunch of issues that have really slowed down my build. First, the alclad aqua came out very rough on the tops of the wings. Ok, everywhere else. Not as smooth and glossy as I’m used to for gloss, but I think it will do.
It doesn’t protect against enamel wash at all. Thankfully, I used it on a drop tank first. It ate through it and the blue. I have to repaint that now. I’m going to start some of the decals tonight. Weapons are almost done. I really want to finish this and move onto something else. If I ever build another one, I’m buying the Fine Molds!
