Thank you. No sir. I airbrush out in my garage.
New cabinet, and lots of room to grow!
Unfortunately not large enough for an entire 8,8cm KwK 36 barrel but certainly enough for a section of one
It was recovered from a Tiger I Ausf E found in Eastern Europe that was damaged beyond all hope of repair/restoration. Recovery companies take destroyed components like barrels and torsion bars and laser-cut them into sections, the sale of which goes on to fund more substantial restoration projects
pr154, that’s a very nice display cabinet. Lots of space to fill with future builds.
I agree with you @Demolition but here in MD, summer is too damn hot and winter is too damn cold. HAHAHAHAHAHAHa
I sense a theme in your upper game room. I just can’t figure out what it is.
Amazing displays. How do you keep them clean?
My wife and I have a 3 bedroom condo. Since it’s just the two of us, we each have our own “office.” She works from home and actually uses hers as an office. My room really doesn’t have a specific purpose, although I do my model building in it. Painting, airbrushing categorically, is done in the garage.
In my office I have a few Billy bookcases from IKEA that hold my models.

My two biggies that don’t fit on my shelves are beside them.

For scale, everything is 1/48 except for the Sopwith Camel (plastic desktop; scale unknown), the Saturn V (1/144) and the OH-58D (1/35).
Anyway, welcome to my home. I have a fridge full of cold ones. Next time you’re in SoCal, come have a look for yourself! Stop by and say hi!
Cheers!

Is the B1 racing the Saturn V?
Pretty nice, except for the dust factor?
HA! That’s funny. Never even thought of that. ![]()
Thanks! Yeah, the dust can be an issue. I thought about getting glass doors for the cases, except that I build 1/48. A lot of my kits wouldn’t fit inside the doors. I don’t mind the occasional dusting. It gives me an excuse to look back at all my old work and see how I’ve progressed as a modeler.
Thanks for lookin’!

That saturn v blasting off is fantastic!
There’s some amazing work on those shelves and I also love how you displayed your Saturn rocket taking off. Mothers dusting, pets, and toddlers’ hands are the nemesis of our finished and displayed model kits.
Thank you! It was a fun project.

Aren’t they just a reason to go buy another one for the stash. Wife: Sorry dear. Little Johnny broke your airplane. Husband: That was a classic Tamiya 1:48 scale Corsair. I spent like 8 hours building that. I guess I can build another one. Hmmm… Didn’t magic factory come out with a dual combo kit a couple of years ago? Maybe that would work as a replacement…
When we moved into our new house, the only demand I had was a dedicated man cave for my models.
My company was getting rid of this display cabinet, and I snatched it up!
I picked these glass cases up at IKEA.
Found these at a garage sale for $150

It’s cool that you were able to snatch up the cabinet that your company was getting rid of. The other shelves look very nice.. The IKEA cabinets are pretty popular with a lot of of the guys in my club. You’ve got some very unique builds. Super cool.
It is a chore to clean, usually once a quarter i will set a weekend aside for dusting and cleaning the models and shelves.

That brings up a related topic (not trying to hijack the thread), how do you dust and clean your finished models?
I use my wife’s swifer duster thing, works pretty good, I don’t do it very often though.
I normally use a make up brush, and can of compressed air. That always seems to do the trick.
Nice thing about the display cases is they minimize/neutralize the amount of dust and cleaning.
