Looking forward to seeing the Eduard offering of the iconic Emil.

This will be my entry…

You and me both!

That’s the new offering from Airfix correct?

Happy Modeling,
Mike

Yes it is a new offering. I have watched a couple of build videos on this one and it looks to be a straight forward build.

Just go ahead and start building. Greysnake01 hasn’t posted anything around here since June.

If all goes as planned I should get started on the Walrus. At least the initial unboxing and a look at the instructions.

We are our worst critics aren’t we!

So, here we are right now with not much further to go. Did a very dark gray sludge wash and did a little dusting on the bird. The canopy isn’t that bad considering it being free hand painted. I managed to clean up some of the frame edges with a toothpick.

I’ve never entered one of my models in a show, so perhaps there’s a worse critic around.

About the canopy: have you ever tried the decal route? Painting decal paper the color of the canopy and cutting out thin strips? Sometimes looks better.

No, but I’m open to new things and might try the decal paper next time.

I built that walrus a few years back, wonderful kit. Canopy fit was a bit fiddly though. Interior is great, though a lot will be hidden.

That looks great. Inspiration to get me started on this one! The instructions look good, with options for building with the wings folded and canopy open or closed. There is a good amount of detail in the crew compartment. Plus there are multi view rigging diagrams. The molding looks clean with some very detailed rivet and panel lines on the hull. I wasn’t sure if this will qualify for this GB?

I’m going to stick a fork in the Stuka and call it done. Looking back at thing I would done some things differently but at least I finished one.

The paint work on your Stuka looks great. I always have second thoughts on how I would have done things differently on finished builds. For me the most challenging thing is to remember to implement those changes on the next build and not get carried away while I’m in the comfort zone.
Got the ejector marks cleaned up on the fuselage sides and floor of the Walrus. I was thinking about replacing some of the molded on interior details with scratched items. Will need seatbelts. Are they common among British aircraft or are the belts model specific

Most definitely important to keep it fun

The JU-87 looks great! Glad you overcame your temporary doldrums and finished the Stuka.
How did cleaning out your parents estate go? A tough job all around.

It was tough but I got everything cleared but a 57 Chevy project with a ton of parts. That’s proving to be a tough sale with only 2 people coming to look since July.

I don’t think the housing market is slow by me, but we aren’t getting many offers near asking price. It’s a $650k house all day but we aren’t receiving any offers close to it.

Hard to believe a '57 Chevy is a tough sell. I understand about the house. The market is slow right now. I hope things work out and you get your money’s worth!

Finally got a bit of downtime to address a couple issues on the Stuka. I kept looking at the misalignment on the horizontal stabs and thinking I need to do something. The issue was compounded by the struts under the stabs not fitting if the stabs were straightened.
I needed to modify the struts on both sides to get a better look. Tiny styrene fragments, lots of liquid glue, sanding and shaping in very poorly accessible areas, then a coating of Mr Surfacer 500 resulted in this.

Also had a bit of time to slap a coat of paint on it. Mr.Color Luftwaffe blue applied by brush. It’s my first time using this paint and I have to say that it laid down quite nicely, levelled well with no brush marks. It went on so thinly that my glue damaged fingerprint is unfortunately still somewhat visible….

Nice improvement on the stabilizers. Looks like you’ve got things under control.
