I’m a plane spotter! I mostly spot around the Bay Area (SJC, SFO, NUQ) airports and the SoCal airports (LGB, LAX, SNA) because I live around the bay and go to school around the other. I’ve only been to one airshow, so my military aircraft is limited to Miramar 2024 (and the one time Air Force One was at LAX last year).
Just wanted to see if there’s any other fellow airplane nerds! It’s aways a great way to get reference photos!
Here’s a few of my shots purely for engagement sake lol
I am a fellow plane spotter! I live in DC which is a haven for plane nerds (2 airports, 2 aerospace museums, frequent military flyovers). I once saw 6 Air Force trainer planes overhead as I was walking home from school i will try and post pics later
I live within walking distance of a small local airport. Most aircraft that land or take off are Cessna’s or other small commuter planes and the occasional small business jet. Though the occasional warbirds do come through when going to/from the Oshkosh EAA. Unfortuneately, I don’t take pictures as I have a pretty crappy camera.
Yeah, I’m be of those guys with my eye on the skies. Between living near airports and military bases, plus my time in uniform, I’ve taken plenty of photos… sometimes with good cameras, so so cameras, or sometimes with my phone…
Living near Wright Pat and being on the flight path for a couple of airports, I’ve seen a few amazing sites. Here’s a couple of recent ones. The hot air balloon is not related to the airports but it was cool.
O sweet! I’ve visiting Wright Patterson next month with my parents to check out the USAF museum!
I have a similar pic from Moffett Field while driving to school. There were 6 CH-53s going to who knows where (maybe Miramar or Point Mugu?). Forgive the cruddy iPhone picture
I was just on a 3 day business trip to Chicago. Yesterday on the way home I got to the airport early and sat and watched all the operations. So much coordination.
Saw this blackhawk (medivac) the other day
Terrible pic, but there’s a local very small airport (Goodyear Airport) and they house a lot of airliners. The Spirit fleet is growing like crazy. Inspired me to build one
@NWAN322 that museum is amazing. Our family goes there quite often. 5 giant hangars full of the most amazing aviation history! I hope you have a great time!
I’m so excited! Thanks so much! We were supposed to go last year, but our flight was literally the day of the CrowdStrike outage which was so unfortunate haha. Can’t wait to see the other YF-23, Mig-29, and the KC-10! I hope my parents and brother enjoy it as much as I know I will lol
Yeah,I went in 2016,it’s one of those bucket list items.If you read everything, you could be there for days.Same trip I saw a Cleveland Indians game,went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,then down to Canton to see the NFL Hall of Fame,then it was on to Dayton,was a great trip.
I counted 41 Spirit airliners sidelined at Goodyear the other day. My count could have been off by one or three, as it’s harder to do while passing by in car compared to sitting in a hide site… but I remember not too long ago when there were less than two dozen Spirit airliners there.
@stikpusher
Must be a Japan Air Lines plane. Japan sure does love their Pokemon, Hello Kitty, etc., etc. To some people, their designs may seem a bit weird. But you got to admit, they sure are colorful.
I’m also a “plane spotter.” I guess you could say that I’m very lucky being a modeler and living where I do. I live very near the airport where the E.A.A. is held every year so during that week I’m constantly running out on my patio to watch various War Birds flying overhead. When the convention isn’t running, they still take their various planes from the collection up for test flights. Seeing the Ford Tri-Motor “Tin Goose” flying overhead is also a thrill. We also have the “Oshkosh Corp” which produces vehicles for the U.S. Army so those trucks are constantly been test driven around the city.
