Any paper modelers out there

There is a forum for paper models, but I see no posts since the new forums started.

I’m not a paper modeler but we have one in our local club and his work is amazing. If I would have known about paper modeling when I restarted this hobby I probably would have tried it.

There’s a paper modeler I’ve seen and met a few times by the name of Dave Sakrison. (Hope I spelled his name right.)
I’ve seen his paper models at several Wisconsin model contests and non-contest gatherings the past several years. Here’s some sample pics of his creations.

WhatIfRebel, David belongs to our local club(IPMS Steve Wittman) and you’re correct his work is incredible.

Wow, just Wow

I think @mustang1989 built a Sweets & Treats Shop in 1/24

I’ve made one 1/35-1/32 paper model from Monroe Perdu Studios. Tower 1 Avila Beach 1993.

Then it was installed at the Gnome Gauge Railroad where Mingo and Gnomer went to graffiti battle all over it.

Sprueone, that “vandalized” lifeguard’s station looks awesome! Hard to believe that it’s made out of paper.

Thanks! I liked the operable sliding door and window openings.

missileman, If you have the new “Ship Modelers Handbook” from FSM there is an awesome article on paper ship modeling.

Hello!
Since you’re asking, I guess I have to chime in with my paper models:

More details here:

And this one:

even has a WIP:

Recently we’ve built one with my daughter, but I don’t have photos of it yet…

Here in Poland we have many paper models to chose from - various cool subjects and the models themselves are cheap, please let me know if you would like to buy any - I can help you get them.

Have a nice day!

Pawel, that is some outstanding work there. I wish that I would have discovered paper models when I was younger and my plastic model stash was much smaller.

I’ve slowly amassed a small collection of card models. Haven’t built any of them yet, but plan to try one in the near future. I bought a few from the Poland hobby dealer Super-Hobby in 2024.

Thanks, Tom, I will check that out.

Thank you. It was fun building and painting, then repainting.

Pawal just read your build article for the 1/33 II-2 Stormovik. Good job of modeling and as importantly your “how to” explaintions made the construction steps understandable.
I have just started a paper model ( well a month ago - real life is a bummer- ) and have built it 3 times. Each time as I learn what to do and how to do the assembly processes better. Having fun, frustrations, triumphs, failures, and FUN. modeling goodglue

Hello!
I’m glad my writing could be useful to you! What are you building? When you say “3 times” I guess you can print your own spare parts, am I right?
Good luck with your build and have a nice day!

Oh, sorry was not thinking clearly- not so unusal with me dunno .
The model is the Fiddlers Green Convair Sea Dart. The 3 times (to date) are what I have done, to learn how to make the model, what the notations on the sheet mean, fitting fuselage sections together etc. Yes I can reprint the model trying differant paper/cards and printer settings. Though I have been plastic kit modeling for a long while the tips and tricks unique to paper/card modeling are just starting to come in to focus, so to speak. Again thank you for your informative article.

Hello!
Good luck with your Sea Dart - I sure would like to see a WIP on that!
I like to build my paper models from kits printed on a nice paper so I mostly buy them ready-printed, but I ocasionally also print them from the internet - but I find the printing demanding in some respects - like finding the right paper and getting it through the printer.
I think you’ll find that making paper models also improves your plastic modelling and scratchbuilding skills.

And here’s that MiG I mentioned thet we built with my daughter:

Have a nice day!

Thank you for the MiG article, very impressive model, by you both.
As to WIP photos I have none, I was so intent on the How to, What to, Why to, of the building process that I forgot to make a “grand historical document” disappointed. After looking at my work to date that is a good thing.
Thank you also for the WAK link, So many models! I have added the link to my referance list for future exploration. I can see how those preprinted models are a big advantage both for the construction and final results.

While I mostly work in plastic and resin (with bits of wood and metal and paints and strings and glues) paper modeling is a mentally easier and more relaxed hobby. There are a great variety of options online to try if you’re interested.
