The track tension looks a bit slack on the 113 bar… ![]()

Now there’s something you don’t see everyday. M113, ![]()
Yeah! Mee to. Hadn’t thought about that for 40 years.
Song has been stuck in my head since I posted that lol
I thought models and model supplies was expensive until I dove into my shooting sports and gunsmithing.
Buying anything to do with my model building is cheap relatively speaking and that’s before my two classic rides. Even engines and transmissions don’t quite rise to the expense of any of my custom rifles.
I used to track my boss302. Brakes and tires get expensive!
Happy birthday! I turn 63 next week.
If I’m not modeling, I’m fishing, specifically salt water surf casting. The good thing about winter is I don’t have to choose between hobbies. The other 3 months it usually becomes a battle because I can’t balance both.
Striped bass fishing is starting to fall off though, at least from the surf and for smaller fish. It’s become more of a all or nothing type venture, making me spend more time at the bench which isn’t a terrible thing.
You’ve opened up a can of worms with this one. I’ve always had a diverse set of hobbies and interests.
I’m an avid woodworker and home improvement addict. I’ve built a decent side hustle building things for craft shows, building custom furniture, and lots of repair and refinishing of furniture.
Custom floor inlay using oak, cherry, maple and walnut
Barrel vaulted ceiling in white oak with custom curved crown molding
Arched trim and columns to hide structural support in house.
Cherry bookshelf and entertainment center
Craftsman style end table with hidden drawer, made from cherry
I’m a decent carpenter, electrician, plumber, roofer, trim carpenter, painter and decorator. I spend at least one week a year donating my time to build a church or parsonage with an organization that sets up teams for that purpose. It has taken me all over the country from New York and West Virginia to Montana and Alaska. And when it was safer to do so, I went to Haiti a few times. Pics from last year’s trip to AK:
I love high performance and sporty cars. I had a highly modded Mustang that is my current scale modeling subject. I recently freshened up a Datsun 280z, and got it running.
I miss this car, my daily driver. 1998 Mustang Cobra with road race suspension, custom exhaust, wheels, ported intake, tune, 3.73:1 gears.
1977 Datsun 280z I’m currently fiddling with.
I used to be an avid cyclist. I’ve restored a few bikes and done a custom build or two.
I built this custom city bike for my oldest daughter when she went to college. Found an old Specialized AL frame MTB and painted it “blurple” (her choice) with white and lime green accents.
Then there’s my LEGO addiction.
Titanic. 9090 pieces.
Concorde. 2083 pieces.
Statue of Liberty. I’d love to find the older kit which was much larger.
There are others. But these are the big ones.
I really want to get into my hobbies more! I like to draw, collect stamps/covers, I am on the debate team, and I enjoy hunting for antiques.
that first picture is so gorgeous!
Thanks! That was my first floor inlay I ever did, made from walnut, maple, oak and cherry. It was before CNC was available to hobbyists. I used printed outlines to make hardboard pattern routing templates for the individual pieces. The circular borders are bent laminations. This took about 60 hours to make. I have a small CNC for these now, so it’s a bit easier to make all the small pieces.
