Hello guys, I’ve been kicking this idea around for a couple of weeks. July 28 marks a hundred years since WWI started. And I’m just wondering if anyone would be interested in a group build?
The group build would start on July 28 2014 and end November 11 2015. To coincide with the beginning and ending of WWI.
Anything that took part in WWI would be open, just no what ifs. If enough interest is shown here I’ll also put out feelers to the armor and ship’s forum as well.
I think there is on on the go in the GB section, if not I will be in with something. I have a WNW Se5 in the stach and a WNW D-7 on the way that need an excuse to be built
Theuns, you’re right there was a group build feeler in the GB forum. But I think five or so people showed interest including me.
I may not have been clear on the dates[:(DD] I figured since July 28 marks the start of the war it can end November 11 2015 ninety seven years since the war ended. I hope this is a little bit clearer[H]
Jack is correct, I did “The great War” GB way back. And while it was left open so to speak it is rarely visited now. I also agree with Jack that a special GB should be set up for something as notable as 100 years since the start of the war.
Thanks for the interest guys! If we get a few more people interested I say we have a group build! I’ll put a topic over on the armor and ship forum and see if we can get some bites over there.
Check out the latest FSM (Feb. 2014) page 42. Just got my copy and found these shots of the First WWI group build hosted by FSM in March 2013. Congrats to all the members that are included in the spread. Great builds. [t$t] [t$t] [t$t]
I’m waiting on my copy of the Feb. issue as well. Really can’t wait to see it. I know they usually take a bit longer to get to destinations north of the US border.
One thing I’m curious about, and that is, for how many of you will this be your intro to building a WWI aircraft? They can be quite addicting you know. [;)]
Interesting that you ask. For me, this will be the first WWI build since one of the very first models I ever made. A 1/72 sopwith camel…when I was 6 years old. So, kinda nostaligic for me, decades later. I’ll go with a Fokker D VII.
