Cannonball Run was even better

I just use a desk I have had for ages, and a box to hold paint, glue, and all my tools. It’s a bit messy but it works. I’m thinking of getting a paint organizer and airbrush sometime so I might need to upgrade my storage.

I just ordered nail paint racks on Amazon this weekend. Now I just need to extend the peg board and the work surface to the left so I can move the spray booth to the left some more.

By chance could you post the link to the nail paint racks from amazon? Thanks.

I ordered these racks. They come in 15", 24" and 30" lengths.

The nail racks work great. Except for the big jars of Tamiya. They don’t fit.

The rack on the left has three tiers of nail trays

Instead of nail trays I used acrylic ā€œspice racksā€. They are the same as the nail trays except bigger and you can put the larger Tamiya bottles. just search ā€œacrylic spice rackā€ and go from there.

I designed and built mine. I’m very happy with it.

The paint racks are on drawer slides and slide out to get paint.

Its not a mess right now, as I just moved upstairs and set it up. It will not stay looking like this for long.

Oh wow that looks super nice. Mine is covered in paint and glue spills lol

Give it time! That is all a redo. It was originally wood color. There were stains all over it. When I moved upstairs, I took the opportunity to sand it all down, and paint it. It will get messed up again very soon, I promise.

Interesting idea Gary.

Welcome aboard and thanks for sharing…

Love those sliding drawers!

Got tired of searching for certain items so, I broke down and made myself two pencil drawers with dividers for things. One big drawer for the tools and, another for all the sanding items.

Now that is organization!

Then tomorrow he buys something new and has to redo it all. LOL… That’s the bane of my tool drawer…

It has to be organized, like my workspace, otherwise I can’t build and want to focus on cleaning up.

No, I pretty much have all I need tool wise to do what I do. Those drawers have been finished for @ three years now.

I recently added my $0.02 to this thread, but happy to post a pic here, as well:

My workbench is an old Costco 24x96 wood-topped ā€œworkbenchā€ that is a wooden top on a metal base. Its top is 38" high, so I sit on a stool to work. I built the spray booth that takes up the left side, and I’m currently using some drawer pedestals from my old work desk (currently re-purposed for a gaming computer and flight simulator setup), but I really want a better drawer option. These ones don’t really fit anything useful for storage, or at least I haven’t found anything yet.

The stash is actually the bottom two shelves in a wall-mounted lumber storage rack (note the lumber on the top shelf). When we moved here, I was setting up my woodworking shop in the basement, eventually the space became more of a ā€œmaker spaceā€ to give the kids places to experiment and do things. Also, the sag in the bottom shelf is not from the stash! It (the shelf) spent years holding smaller lumber pieces that were shorter than the space between supports, so it’s actually had a significant amount of weight on it in the past. I just like that it makes it look like I have SOOOO MANY MODELS. :joy:

Finally, the clear racks on the walls are ā€˜spice racks’ that I installed early on. I will likely remove some or all of them as I am outgrowing my current storage and wish to add more paint racks and desktop drawers. If I can find a way to reuse them, I definitely will (see ā€œprimerā€ shelf in paint booth). Current thinking is mounted on the wall left of the booth, so I can store rattle cans and larger containers out of the way.

I love some of the spaces I’ve seen in this and other threads - I cannot imagine a time where I will ever have my own ā€œmodel spaceā€ that holds display cases, etc. but I can dream! Keep those pics coming…

My Modeling Room was supposed to be a ā€œtemporary setupā€ after we moved in and I’ve had intentions of totally redoing my workroom but, after 11 years I doubt it’s gonna happen. I really hate the fact that nothing matches and things are piece mealed together. Anyhow, here’s my humble space, room is @ 12 feet x 9 feet and has heat.

My main workbench, nothing fancy but, it works.

This gray desk I made way back in the late 90’s. It’s been thru two moves. I use it as an overflow area while building.

I made this bookcase @ 5 years ago and I’ve already outgrown it and need to build a bigger one. I use these books extensively during my builds as well as searching the web when I can’t find what I need in them.

I’m fortunate that I now have a separate room for spraying in instead of dragging everything out to the garage. This room is @ 12 feet x 8 feet and climate controlled as well.

I made the wooden paint storage rack, the other one is a repurposed medicine cabinet with the doors removed.
