Work bench ideas

Great looking work shop. Very tidy. I have that same wifi antenna or something close to it. Mine has a magnetic mount

Now I know who bought all the Model Master paint.

I did stockpile certain colors when I heard they were going away :sob: At my age, 62, I should have enough to last me. I’m always looking for more IF I can find any for a reasonable price though.

I just attach a piece of plywood to the top of my bench in order to shift my spray booth to the left. I’m amazed by how much more room I have and don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner.

I made my own. I bought a couple of drawer units on sale at a art and buiness store. I made a top by sandwitching two pieces of 2x4 1/2 inch mdf. I cut the depth down to 20 ", and the meat was a grid of 1x2 pine for stiffness. It was too low when ! tried it so I made two squares assembly of 1x4 to go between the file cabinets to raise the top. Those cabinets had swivel wheels on them which is useful.

Boy, seeing all of these incredible work spaces motivate me to get downstairs and organize/clean my workbench.

If anybody is looking for a good light for their table/work bench, I bought this style a few weeks ago and love it. There are 5 different settings for brightness/dimness, etc. This style light I bought on Amazon.

Nice! I currently use 3 separate lights to do what that one fixture does.

That is a spiffy setup. I also use a Costco table and I cover it with paper just because it is an art table that already has lots of paint all over it, and it’s distracting. But I’d like flooring like your room because right now I have shag carpet (!)

WhatIfRebel, that looks awesome! I’ll be looking that fixture up this Spring/Summer after I get the workbench/Man Cave cleaned & organized.

I had some time today to get somethings unpacked and organizing on my workbench. I also constructed the benchtop for my 3D printer and laser cutter. I still need to unpack more kits. I also added the white storage cubicle for my diorama supplies… basswood, balsa wood, plastic I-beams, and styrene in various shapes.

Wow that looks great. Super organized. Ok show me 6 months from now when you have 4 kits on the bench

Wow Scalemodeler66, that is a great set up that you have there. I’m very envious of you. Enjoy the new work bench.

I started busting up when I saw your comment… I will definitely post a picture in six months to see if it is still organized. To be transparent… I’m OCD when it comes to organization :laughing:

Thank you very much Mr. Tom. Instead of a bass fishing boat for my retirement… I wanted this, and it was a lot cheaper lol

I’m jealous of @ScaleModeler66 . That’s an amazing work space! This is my space. It’s… functional.

It’s HUGE! Wow that is a great workspace - so much room for expansion. I see 1/24 scale kits in your future

ScaleModeler66, I see your point about your hobby room being cheaper than a fishing boat but does a new kit taste good with tartar sauce and fries?

@dadoffour… your space looks great. I agree with John you have a great space to expand, or rearrange to your liking. Plus with your high ceiling line you can have a great air battle, or galaxy battle

@ScaleModeler66 oooo… I like that idea! Galaxy battles! I wonder if I can get a 1/48 scale star destroyer…
