I recently made the acquaintance of someone whose Grandfather served with the 525th FS, 86th FBG/FG during WWII, and so went on an image hunt. Here’s one of the relatively few photos that I was able to find…
Here’s a shot my Dad took at Geneseo back in the mid 80s. It’s a bad scan of a scrap print… I’ll have to maybe drag out the negative and have a go with that. But until then, this’ll do just fine me thinks…
I was wondering if you had any pix of the B1- RD. It does not really matter what variant…[:D] I know I know, I have been working wwaaayyyy toooo much…!!
Hey BlackWolf, Do you have and CBI Mustang photos? I’m building an A varient for the CBI Group Build and I haven’t seen too many photos. Also, I have some photos you might be interested in. My late grandfather was one of the big engineers at North American/Rockwell so there’s some pretty sweet photos from back in the day. Contact me off forum at RadMax8@wowway.com if you’d like to see some… I can’t send you many (if any) originals, but I’ll send you the highest quality scan I can muster. So, just send me an email when you get around to it.
Any chance that you might have any pics of the Lockheed TV-1 or 2, especially cockpit pics? I’m trying to do something with the OLD Hawk TV-2 kit, not much to work with…
TV-1s and TV-2s were actually F-80Cs and T-33As allocated to the Navy, so they would both have pretty much identical interiors to their USAF counterparts.
I’m not at home at the moment, but I’ll see what I have for T-33 cockpit photos. There are a few on the net which may be somewhat helpful as to colors… here’s two of the better images I found:
The colors will differ, depending on what era you’re modeling. If you’re building an aircraft from the 50s, the interior would look more or less like these two photos. Aircraft that were still in service later on, say in the early to mid 60s, would have most likely been repainted in gray.
I went through what I had on the PC and came up with nada… thought I had something, but I guess not.
Okay, I posted this link in the reference section a long time back, but I’ll post it here too, as well as some images…
Flight International magazine, formerly known simply as ‘Flight’, recently began digitizing its vast collection of photographs and making medium-res images available online.
I’ve included a few images here showing RAF Airacobras…
You can see the rest of the Airacobra images, starting on THIS page.
The ‘Flight’ image archives main page can be found HERE…
I’m trying to track down an image or two of a TA-4J/F in blue and grey agressor colors. I found a few great shots on the Skyhawk Assoc. site, but I can’t seem to save them. I guess there kinda hinky about those great pics.
I can definitely help you out with gray and blue Scooters.
Matter of fact, I was in the middle of posting on thursday when the power went bye-bye. You’ve probably seen something on the news about all the loveliness that’s been going on in Western New York for the past few days… well, I’m in the middle of that mess.
We still don’t have power in my neighborhood, so I’m posting this from my Sis’ place. Even though I don’t have access to my image archive, much of what I was going to post can be found on Airliners.net. Just do a search for TA-4J, and/or some unit designations like VF-126, VA-127, VF-43, VF-45, VC-8…stuff like that. You should come up with some good hits.
When we get power back at home I also have a number of other images to post. Most of 'em are pretty ratty… yucko quality. But they’re good for reference nevertheless.
I particularly like that P-40 crash pics. You can see the ruts that prove that not every plane ends its crash landing with the nose pointing in the “right” direction. Radical yawing on the ground is very common with the gear up. Must have been terrifying not being in control at that speed.
Terrifying… probably… just think of how you felt last time you lost it on a snowy road, even for a second, and that may be close to what this guy was feeling…
Okay kids, here’s an impromptu quiz… can anyone tell me who this dude is?
