here’s a few pictures of first figure from Dragon 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS Handschar set I’m working on .This is going to be small dio with 4 soldiers , haystack and wooden fence somewhere in Bosnian mountains. General plan is not finished yet, so there could be changes…
Real nice job especially the camo! [tup] I am always learning… never knew that Germans actually wore ‘Fez’ caps! I am looking forward to see more pictures of your figures and the diorama.
Painting is slowly coming to the end, here’s a few pictures , need to correct some errors ,add some finishing touches , but overall I’m satisfied how it come out…
I love it…reminds me of home [:-^]. By the way, “Handschar” is spelled “Handzar” with a little “V” like thingy above the letter “z”. It means sword in Turkish, or at least it is an adopted word from Turksih language in Bosnia.
Very cool! YOu seldo see a dio with only figures–in that respect, your dio is noteworthy. NIce groundwork too!
The Handschar division is noteworthy for having one of the–if not THE–worst records of atrocities and War Crimes of all SS divisions. They were also the only division to mutiny.
So far, my only suggestion would be to sink the figures into the groundwork, to give the impression of weight. They kinda appear to be floating a little. A few dabs of diluted white glue could soften the turf where the figs are to be placed, and then the figs could be pressed into the ground a bit.
figures are not fixed yet to the ground so they may look as floating over it… there is some work and corrections to be done on figures and maybe on the ground , thinking to put some more grass clumps outside od fence…
About 13th Handschar Division, history of that division is well known to me with all controversy connected to them. I choose to make this little dio because I thought they are interesting and somehow unusual with their Fez hats which are not often seen… no political or racial background for which I was kind of accused on one other forum…
