Who's Sam ?

I don’t know about you , but Sam is aggravating. He tries to get me to believe he’s from a Microsoft Site contractor that is blocking me because I have a computer problem . How do we get rid of these D#$%^ jerks ?

Try blocking the number, eventually they switch to a different one, just repeat as necessary.

Gary,

We get these same calls on our old Land-line.

I let’em go on and on. Then I laugh. Sometimes I ask’em what they want to order, saying, we have a special on “Arnie’s whole-beef halves”. Othertimes I let them know I am an IBM Engr. They seem to have taken me off the list.

It all a Con. “Sam” and “Bob” and “Dan” are not real. Like a few of Hellers Model sailing ships. Just done to sell you something else.

When I have gotten these calls I love hearing all the voices in the backgroud. Sometimes in several languages. It’s cheap entertainment for 30 sec or so.

Seriously, if it is a computerized voice, listen and see if an option comes up to remove your #. If a “Human”, maybe try to get info on who they are. Asking to be taken off might work.

If they continue to call, and if it is the same group, You can sue.

Here’s some interesting info:

Happy Holidays TB.

Jim.

Keep him on the line as long as possible, sound interested, waste as much of his time as possible, the tell him to go F#$% himself.

Or speak back to them with a phoney Indian accent until they hang up on you.

Time is money to them,so waste theirs.

Best thing to do is NOT to answer the call. By answering you are letting the Alpha Hotel on the other side that it’s a live line. I had the No Robo app applied to our land line and the call have stopped 98%. I get a ton on my cell but I ignore them. The government is working on some kingd of law to make it a Federal Law to stop these harrasing BS calls.

If it’s important and a real call, a message will be left unlike the robo calls that call at random and wait for someone to pickup so a human scum can jump in with a scam.

I’m like PJ - Unless it’s a numer I recognize, I just don’t answer it. If they want me they will leave a message.

One thing you can do is register your number on the “Do Not Call” list.

Three ways to deal with it…

I usually listen and give them a hearty miserable “Go **** yourself” and hang up.

Pick up the phione but DON’T say anything - not even a simple “Hello”. Let them yammer on then hang up.

Or simply don’t answer on an unfamiliar number if you have caller ID.Let the answering machine pick it up. 9 times out of 10, they don’t leave a message.

Personally, I always go with my first option. Keep in mind, I’m married into an Italian family so I learned a few tricks the NY Italian way. LOL!

Tried that and it doesn’t work. They have multiple lines and continue to rotate lines. Each time you get one of these calls you have to go to the web site and fill out a report that takes a lot of time only for them to turn around and use a different number.

I look st the caller ID and see who’s calling.

Lol when I first saw the thread It reminded me of Sam the sham and the pharaohs.[clwn]

I am Sam

Sam I am

That Sam I am

That Sam I am

I do not like that Sam I am

i thought you were the son of sam.

My old computer is at my parents’. It’s not connected to the internet; Dad just uses if for the few word processing he may need to do.

I have a dream that one of these callers will call them when I’m there.

Cdn Colin, much snow your part of Barrie as still got some here in Lefroy just south of you? i’ve been getting those “windows technical support” calls for years & now i just tell them that they are not “windows technical support” because MS says so on their site. click.

It’s melting pretty fast with the temperatures we’re having. The lawn is still white, but the snow I didn’t shovel off the driveway earlier this week is gone.

What a wonderful world we enjoy…I’ve had perfect strangers offer to fix my computer, consolidate my debts, and help me get rich. I once won a car but didn’t have the money to pay the driver to deliver it.

Like some of you we have caller ID, and don’t answer a call from any name or number we don’t recognize. I can’t imagine the government coming up with any way to detect, block or penalize all the scammers; it’s up to us.

Happy Holidays to all!

Mike

I have to asnwer our phone. My mother in law is in a nursing home and diffrent people call from there on various numbers concerning her, and most of them do not register on caller id. I simply hang up on spam calls… Annoying, yes, but not worth getting up in arms about.

When they call I answer the phone by saying “Lincoln Park zoo, lion house.” I hear a click and then they start with their stupid sales talk. Then I repeat with a stern voice, "Lincoln Park zoo, lion house. “Why are you calling a zoo?” They say, “Zoo???” I say, “This is a private number for the exclusive use of lions and tigers to talk with each other. Don’t call this number again”. They say “Sorry” and hang up. Great fun.

A Bipartisan bill called The Traced Act is aimed at doing just that by giving the FCC more power to deal with this garbage. I haven’t checked the status of it.

This thtead is a hoot! Almost wish I had better credit so I could have fun with these fools too.

I did get a call one time, nice lady voice of East Indian heritage trying to sell me something. I politely listened to her spiel then asked her what part of the U.S. she was in…Bom Buffalo NY, was her reply. I asked if she had seen Niagra Falls, just up the road from her, she replied that she didn’t know where that was. I promptly told her to have a nice day in Koala Lampor, Bombay, or WHEREVER in the world she was from and hung up. Bom Buffalo REALLY? Lol

Wanna really get them to hang real quick? Answer the phone this way:

Say… “__________ County Sheriff’s Office, how may I help you?”

You can even use State Police barracks or County Jail, Federal Prison, Psych Center, Hospital, too. Works everytime. I guarantee you’ll never hear from them again.
