I built that Cygnus kit when I was a kid after The Black Hole movie came out. At that time I had dabbled in lighting, but that kit was not one that I could have done anything with. All of those glass panels as depicted in the movie were styrene with molded on framework.

Of course, I’ve worked out how I would do this build now. It would require lots of cutting to remove what should be glass panels, then replacing all of that with clear styrene and adding custom-made lattice work framing. And if done right with regard to muting the light source inside, that build would potentially look fantastic.

Trouble is, that kit is incredibly rare. I’ve seen it on occasion on eBay going for upwards of $300 or more. Nope, not spending that kind of cash on a rather simplistic kit.

Man that UFO clip was crazy fun, it screams 60s And am guessing it’s even British. The clip was practically an advert for the shows models too - I can see the attraction. The show also looks to be the inspiration behind a series of computer games I use to play (Even called: UFO: X,Y,Z).They were popular in the late 90s early 2000s. Need to see if i can pick that show up on eBay for a reasonable price - looks right up my ally.

Edit - just looked Crazy money new on Amazon, eBay is doable - around $60ish for the whole show, used. Still a bit much for my post retirement budget. I’ll see if I can stream it.

The STAR TREK ships I mentioned make very limited appearences in the movie. Here’s a better pic of them. I really wish AMT/Ertl and/or Round 2 would have made plastic kits of them. But they never did.

I’m generally not a fan of any of the Gerry Anderson sci-fi puppet shows except for the following. I’d love to build the Battletank from Terrahawks. It may not look like much, but I love it anyway.

Thanks! That pic is really helpful. I’m glad they have defiant (and Next-gen Enterprise) thrown in for scale.
They really are a neat progression of designs. I see elements of Archers Enterprise in the Akira and the genisis of Defiant in Steamrunner & Sabre. Also hints of proto Voyager in Norway.

A better one might be Jane Fonda from the 1960’s film Barbarella.

This topic got me thinking… I’m building an F-14a from Revell and I have a MiG 28 er, I mean F-5 in my stash. Maybe I need to build this iconic scene:

I’ve never been too into car models - I think it’s cause I spent my late teenage years and most of my twenties underneath my revolving fleet of rusting junkers. Usually (it seemed) in the cold & snow. I definitely had a love hate relationship with cars. Though lately the thought of resurrecting my favorites in model form has become appealing. Unfortunately my budget never allowed me to own one of those tee-top Cameos, no matter how beat. A Smokey and the Bandit Diorama would be very cool and instantly recognizable.

The show aired around 1971 or so. At least here in the US. And yes, it was a British show. A few years back I was watching most of the episodes on YouTube, but down t know if it can still be viewed that way currently.
