What's your favorite subject from movies, TV or game, that you'd love to build?

Roberto (our newest member) inspired this thread.
I’ll start things off with my #1, don’t laugh too hard, (lots of folks hated the movie) here’s mine: The 7th ray powered fliers from John Carter of Mars.

I read the John Carter books as a kid and despite the negative reviews of the movie, felt it did them justice and that the models were wicked cool and as Burroughs described. I’ve started to model them in Blender a couple times but decent detailed images are few and far between, I still hope to give it a real shot eventually.

“The Bucket” from Mr Roberts…

I love to build mobile suits from Zeta Gundam! I also do like building sci-fi versions of actual jets, such as the F-15 & F-16 from Patlabor.

One of my favourite video games is Command & Conquer Red Alert 2. Border Models started releasing kits based on the vehicles in the game. I’ve built two of them so far with the rest in the stash.

It is a lot of fun to do subjects like this.

I’d love to build the Moonbase Interceptor from UFO, several of the Thunderbird craft from that series, and the Mig-31 Firefox

I’m a ship guy so the Bucket does seem like a fun and challenging project. Have you looked into the ship used? Figured out it’s class/type?

Wow that’s a good old game for sure, those models look great and way more detailed than their digital counterparts. I’ve toyed with the idea of doing up some of the units from Starcraft.

I remember seeing that movie in the theater, was a huge change of pace for Eastwood, don’t remember what the Mig 31 looked like, just that it was big and impressive - it’s been a while!. Not familiar with UFO though I’ve heard of it.

Not familiar with these, show us some pics!

I like to build the spaceships from some of my favorite movies, such as Star Wars or Star Trek - well, mostly Star Wars. I particularly like to light them up. I did so successfully with both a Republic Cruiser and Super Star Destroyer from Star Wars, and 1/350 builds of both the USS Enterprise and Klingon K’Ting’a battle cruiser. Lighting turned out to be a bridge too far for the tiny scale Rebel Blockade Runner, as there simply wasn’t room for the fiber optics.

Some time this year I will build an old Monogram Cylon Raider (Battlestar Galactica) and will be adding lights to that one.

I’d love to see a good quality kit of the USCSS Nostromo (Alien) released.

I’ve also enjoyed building figures from sci-fi/fantasy/horror/comic book movies. I’ve done The Creature from the Black Lagoon, Alien, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, a storm trooper, Thor, Captain America (from the Winter Soldier movie), and Iron Man (complete with lights where there are supposed to be lights on his suit).

This is an example of the one I built!

This is a side profile of a F-16 Improved in my backlog right now! It’s from the film Patlabor 2. It’s like an F-16 that’s stealthy

They did a similar version for the F-15 that looks like the STOL/MTD with some stealth characteristics! (This one is not my build)

EDIT! I misread the title of the thread and said my favorite subjects that I have built. So sorry about that. Didn’t mean to hijack.

There was an old group build called “Hooray for Hollywood” that covered this subject. Good times!

Yeah, now there’s a fun idea.
If someone start’s it, I’ll join and be forced to do that John Carter flier… or cr@sh and burn on that hill trying.

Edit - would need to open up the field a bit to include TV, and games.

Sweet Diorama, I’ve never looked into Gundam but for a time loved Mechwarrior, would be fun to print some of them up, and paint them all shot-up and dirty!

Sounds like you’re all over this topic already. Pictures? Or do you sell your builds?

I like UC era Gundam and other anime mechs (big fan of designs by Yutaka Izubuchi, Kazuhisa Kondo, and Makoto Kobayashi) as well as vehicles from US movies like Aliens and Star Wars.

I think the best looking space ship from any movie is the refit Enterprise. But the quality of kits out there and my lack of Trek Modeling Skills keeps it from gracing my display case. The Millennium Falcon gets honorable mention, but I liken it to a bacon cheese burger - tasty and accessible. The Enterprise is more like fine dining at a restaurant I cannot afford.

Best looking sci-fi car goes to the Spinner from Bladerunner, with an honorable mention going to the 1989 Batmobile. Scariest sci-fi car goes to the Patman Bat Car, with the Griffon from Bubblegum Crisis 4 as runner-up.

My Most Wanted Sci-Fi Kit is an accurate Aliens Drop Ship with APC, preferably in 1/72 scale. I do not want a 1/32 or 1/35 $300 kit sitting in the “too big to build” stash.

Oh yes, it’s an old Army Transport ship.. I even have photos of it loading 16" shells onto the USS Missouri somewhere in Japan during Korea…

There are large-scale Interceptor and SHADO Mobile models supposedly coming from Round 2. I think they are planned to be 1/32 scale or something like that.
