What's your favorite NON-fighter?

I’ve noticed that the topic of favorite fighter keeps popping up, but what about non-fighters? Is it one you have fond memories of or not-so-fond memories of? You don’t have to pick just one but you can pick the ones you like by era. For the fighters only crowd you can pick your favorite target.

Heres mine:
Pre-WWII: B-10
WWII: AT-6/SNJ
Korean: T-33
Viet-Nam: C-123
Post Modern: C-141
Modern: B-1B

There are others that I could list, but if I listed EVERYTHING I like, I would pick them all![:P] So have fun with this and I hope I didn’t bore you too badly[zzz]

Staggerwing Beech

Twin Beech

Hughes Racer

Ford Trimotor- (I got to fly on one as a kid, “Island Airlines”)

Staggerwing Beech
Stinson Reliant SR-9

Hey MiG17, there’s a Ford Trimotor being restored about 15 miles from here - heading out to the restoration shop Monday to see how it’s going and offer my metal restoration services.

ww2-he111
nam-a6 intruder

Wow, lots to choose from.

WWI: Nieuport 12, Armstrong Whitworth FK.8

Between the Wars: Martin MB-2, Piper Cub [:)]

WWII: Lockheed C-60 Lodestar, Grumman Avenger, SBD, PBY Catalina, not to mention all the great bombers, F-4 and F-5 recon P-38s.

Korea: the F-82 in the weather recon role.

Viet Nam: A1 Skyraider! O-1 Bird Dog, Cessna Skymaster.

Civilian: Cessna 172, Boeing 747.

Regards,

I would say the AC-130 Spectre.
That is one impressive piece of firepower and I pity the poor soldiers that are below it when it goes into it’s left-turn attack pattern. [:0]

The Lockheed Constellation. No other plane has the graceful lines of the Connie.

Pixilater, I have to agree with you. The entire Connie series is a seriously good looking ship. Don’t know who designed her, but they got it right.

E-3 & Canberra are two of mine. The rest are pretty much anthing that flies

Since i don’t really fancy fighters, this is just a list of my favorite planes… [;)]
B-17 Flying Fortress (Cliche, i know, but i can’t help it.), PBY-5A Catalina, A-26 Invader, A-6 Intruder, Kingair 200, C-47… There are a few that i’m forgetting. [:)]

ok here i go:

stuka, val, b-17, b-29, vindicator, avenger, pby. just to name a few.

joe

sbd dauntless, avenger, pby, b17, b25… The list is endless.

Probably the C-130. The first ride I ever got in a military aircraft was in a herc. I t was a real memorable experience.

Who couldn’t love the Herc?

My favorite of all time would have to be without a doubt the A-10. But there are many more besides that that i like but the A-10 stands out the most.[}:)][}:)][}:)] just for the shear fire power that it brings to the field.

One of my all time favorites is the Ryan ST trainer. I took this photo
of a replica at a fly-in years ago in Northern VA.

Hughes Racer

I’ll second that!

Then follow up closely with the B-36 Peacemaker. Style and size. Total chick magnets… hehe…uh…heheheh. Yeah!

Three come to mind immediately

B-17 Flying Fortress
SR-71 Blackbird
A-10 Warthog

Roadkill thanks for the alternitive [:D][:D][:D]

You’re welcome. The subject of favorite fighter has been flogged into the ground. And I know that everyone can’t like just fighters. I can add a whole plethora of A/C that I like, the ones I listed are just the ones that came to mind. How about the Ju-88 or He-111, or one of my favorite almosts, the TSR.2. The Hercules is up there too. Nothing beats the grace of the Connie. Several come close, the B-1B comes to mind here, very graceful lines on that one. One thing I have noticed is the lack of civilian birds. Like the Cessna 310 or 140. I’m just now getting into civil aviation and I’m finding a lot that I like.

The AC-130 Spectre and the AC-119 Shadow. The 119 in particular.
