I am a pretty new member to the forums, and joined only after its makeover. Now, I here so much about the old forum and how certain thread topics were eliminated and such like, I can’t stand it anymore and must ask; what was it like before?
It was a land of greenest grass, the tallest trees, and blue skies all year long.
Model manufacturers built anything you asked for. Hobby shops were open 24 hours with 50% off and 2 for 1 sales were the norm. Models were never crushed, broken, destroyed nor would dust accumulate anywhere. Friends and family eagerly waited to hear of the progress made on everything you were building. Whenever a model was completed, a choir would sing and the bells would ring to signal another triumph.

Sorry, I saw too many “In the Land of Perfect” commercials during the holidays.
to my memory the only difference was the lack of a dedicated offtopic forum. there used to be quite a bit more sensitive discussions that i understand got a little out of hand so they have been eliminated.
oh, and glue came in these bottles that would never finish, and tenax never evaporated unless out of the bottle
As good as this forum is, this sounds more like my idea of heaven. Close, though.
Like J-Hulk said, I don’t see much of a difference, just wish some of the members that left would rejoin us here from time to time. Now, where did that PE throttle quadrant land?
What was then the Off Topic Forum got a little out of hand with some flamer type political & religous arguements. A few members got upset & cancelled out of the Forums. There was also Games which several members used as a posting factory, racking up 200 or more posts a day. Administration imposed stricter guidelines on topics, banned games, and set it up so that posts in the new Odds & Ends Forum don’t count in total post count.
What’s funny about that statement is that it’s true. [(-D]
It’s pretty much what Rick said. We had a very active Off Topics forum where some threads had gotten out of hand. The original Off Topics forum was pulled and Odds & Ends was put in it’s place. Between the threads which had gotten out of hand and the decision to pull the Off Topics forum, some members had made the choice to leave.
Otherwise, everything else has pretty much remained the same.
Aside from missing a few of the more prolific members, I prefer the new forum. If I want political ranting, I can always turn on Fox. I’m still having great fun here! [:D]
Aint that the truth [:D]. I’m not in your league Brian, but close. I figure I could get A Lot more modeling in without so much time devoted to the Forums. But the Forums are so much fun I can’t stay away.
What was it like before? Not only were all your models first place winners at contests, but your whole existence achieved total validation as a result.
I actually prefered the old forum (sorry guys had to be the party pooper ) ,
and yes I used to play the games get the 200 posts a day thing , which Iused to do in between painting bits , waiting for bits to dry ( mainley my hands with super glue ) ,
and I deleted my account , re-opened it ina new name (used to be seanrgb) ,
But I came back , and its still good place to be though
As most of the people I call friends are here and because of here I met up with friends in the USA ,
Also met up with friends in this 3rd world country as well , Its a Good place to come for advice , see how others build better models than me , [:D]
Now I got to work out how to get this plane thats stuck to my hand off !!! [(-D]
