Anyone down for a weekend group build? No need to make it a sticky though. With school keeping me busy ALL THE TIME I have not had time to build anything, but it looks like I am actually going to have a day off next weekend and I was thinking about purchasing an easy kit to build in two days. Anyone else down for a quickie?
No kit limitations but of course you would not want to have indy track links, or after market stuff. You probably want to pick a kit with a solid paint job. I have an old Tamiya Sdkf 251 I am thinking about putting together, or perhaps I will go get a 1/72nd Revell kit.
Yah, I was thinking the only stipulation would be that the build would start next Friday, with a planned finish date of next Sunday. Obviously, if you don’t finish in the allotted time, there will be severe penalties to pay!!![}:)]
Of course I’m kidding about the penalties, but the idea is to have any easy kit in mind.[:D]
By the way, can anyone suggest some easy kits for a weekend?
I probably wouldn’t even get the pieces cleaned up in a weekend, let alone a whole build.
Weekends are really bad for me. The usually over mentioned Tamiya Panzer II could be a quick build. If we remember the article by Lawrence, he finished a T-34 in a weekend. Are you hoping to do it in one weekend only? Sounds intriguing, but I’m just to busy with family.
Sounds interesting, Eric. Not a good group build for the Kettenkradrad!! LOL. I might join up with one of my many 1/72 kits I got hanging around. I’ll keep it in mind and let you know when I find out what my weekend is going to be like,
Ok thats true. I was wondering how I was going to paint those with it all ready put together since I am a paint and then assemble type with road wheels and tracks.
hi fellas , i’m wondering how anyone can do a build in two days?? i can do it [:p] : looking at pictures of the real thing , opening the box , plan exspection , all the spreus degreasing , cutting and sanding , put it together , filling , detailing , base coat , let it dry (min.24h.) , gloss cote(min.24h), decalling , dull cote(min.24h), washing,drying(min.24h),highlighting , metallizing , dusting , applying muck [:D] let us not speak if you want chipped paint (salt tech.) and all that i forgotten (figs.and so)[:p], you must be superbuilders , well just enjoy yourself thats the mainpoint [:D]
Break open the kit on the 20th (Friday) to start sanding and gluing. Hopefully I will be done with putting the model together by mid Saturday, and I can start painting. Of course I am going to have to go with acrylic paints. Hopefully I will be able to apply a gloss coat by sat. night, so I can let it sit over night. Sunday will be dedicated to decals, and washes. A final dull coat, some pastels and I should be done by Sunday night. That is the plan anyway.
I am still not sure what kit I will build, but of course it can’t be complicated.
I once again invite as many people as possible. Looks like it will only be Chris (M1) and maybe Bill with me on this one? I just have to complete a kit and I will go crazy if I spend a rare weekend off only working on those MK tracks for my M10. All the rest of my kits are bogged down with little brass bits and I wont be able to finish any of them over one weekend. I normally would not even be able to finish painting a kit over a weekend, but like I said, I’m going to give this a shot.[:D]
Good luck guys, I wish you success. Please post pics if possibe. I know what your saying about breaking up the regular routine Eric. That’s why I start planes or cars and never finish them either. LOL
Went to my LHS today and it looks like it will be the Tamiya T 34/85. It was $16 and will be an easy build. I was looking for a four wheeled AFV to make my build as easy as possible, but nothing caught my eye for the right price. Oh well… Now, can I restrain myself till firday?[:D]
lol, sounds fun. Maybe I can join in, gives me a motivating point to finish a kit I ahem started. Pretty much I opened the box, and glued the wheels together. that’s about it, it’s been sitting there gathering dust since, so yeah, prob, I’m in on this one
