I’ll do some work on the truck this weekend (One weekend is too much to hope for) so that I can actually finish it next weekend
I’m kinda sick right now and so I am falling behind on my m10. and also I do not know if I can get something by saturday, but if I can’t, I’ll finish my revell m1, it still has a fair amount of work needed on it.
Ugh, I spent about 2h last night working on the stupid suspension of the truck. Finally got it perfectly allgned, only to have my brother storm downstairs, scare the sh** out of me, and have me drop the not-yet-cured model on the floor. All in all, not a good night. Whatever, maybe tonight I’ll manage to get as much assembly done as possible.
hmmmm . . .
i have a T34/85 that is barely started.
i had brought it up to my girlfriend’s when i visited over the Christmas holiday.
of course, i still have a Pzkpfw IV-D & a 1/32 Komet (Me-163) started too . . .
guess i will have to see how the mood hits me come Friday!
ed.
I have to do the Sherman when I have time… a weekend. I can’t get anything done in one weekend! Maybe open the box and oggle the pieces!
Ron
Chris, which Kettnekradrad did you get?? The Tamiya or the Dragon?
The Dragon kit is FULL of parts. (Indy links for the track and all!) It’s also a double kit with the Pupchen being a full kit in and of it’s self. Simple wouldn’t be the way I’d describe this kit if it was a 1/9 with the same parts break down. I’ve never seen the Tamiya.
I have a host of Revell and DML 1/72 kits. The big decision is which to do. I have a Revell Stug IV that has pe zimmerit for it. That might even be a possibility. Right now, I’m leaning toward the DML SturmTiger, though. Just because it’s different than anything I’ve done before.
Hmmm. the old Tamiya Kubelwagen might work, too.
Okay, Let’s have a vote, what should Bill build on the weekend? (I, like Eric, amd way burnt out and disgusted with MK tracks. I think I’ll go back to Friulmodelissemo’s!)
Zokissima, sorry to hear about the accident. Do you still plan on trying to finish the model over the weekend?
Good to see some interest in the group build. I honestly was not sure if this would be a solo group build or not for a while (meaning only me). So, we have Bill, Ed, Chris, and Zokissima?
As for me, so much for out of the box. The Tamiya T34/85 needs a lot of work, but most of it seems pretty easy to add. I have already marked up the instructions with all of the modifications that I will make. There is going to be quite a bit of wire going on this thing. On a positive note, I had forgotten just how easy the Tamiya T34 was to build. I bet I could put this thing together OOTB in like an hour max. [^]
Bill, I vote the Kubelwagen simply because I am a fan of 1/35th scale.
ok, cant wait till friday. cant blame you if you start early though[:D]
hmmm . . .
if early starts are allowed,
maybe i can just finish the Pzkpfw IV-D that i started months ago and put aside for
the Panther group build?
[:D]
my buddy is going to wring my neck if i don’t get that & the Komet done
so we can build something together! [:0]
ed.
Absolutely, I’m still in. I have to finish it. I did a lot of prep work last night (cheating, I guess but all the pieces are there, ready to be painted, put together. I had to remove them all last night, as the cleanup realistically would have held me back. The cab pieces are ready to go. All the major subassemblies are. I won’t have time probably till friday evening to do anything more, but that’ll make it a true weekend build
I forgot one thing…
There is one thing about the kit I have to change, since it’ll bother me if I don’t. I know the m-925 series of trucks does not have a wood bed, but a sheet steel (aluminum maybe) one. In any case, there is no way I’ll be able to build one (not that good of a builder yet) but I want to make the wooden one more realistic. I want to actually cut out or gouge out a section deep enough to fit some balsa wood strips, as they’ll look far better than the kit part.
Any suggestions/
Also, I’ll try to take some pics this weekend as well. i don’t have a webcam or anything like that, so a normal camera will have to do, then a couple of days to get it developed, scanned, etc
I think I am in on this one
zokissima:
I’d suggest you use basswood instead of balsa. Balsa is just too soft and willget dinged way too easily. Basswood should be available at any place they sell rc airplanes or wooden ship models. It’s a lot more resiient than balsa, but still carves/sands easily.
I am really leaning toward doing either the DML Sturmtiger or the Revell Tiger I I have in 1/72. Sorry, Eric, but I get too caught up in a 1/35 build trying to tweek and improve. But I will get the three out and go over them carefully tonight and make up my mind. Then get them washed and ready for tomorrow! (I hope washing tonight won’t be cheating!)
I might get to the LHS tonight, we’ll see. but I need to hit school hard this afternoon though to get caught up from when I was sick though.
well, i cannot in good conscience use the IV-D, as i worked another 2 or 3 hours on it last night and it is coming along.
so i will either dig out the T-34/85 or weasel out.
my buddy suggests that my vocabulary does not include the word ‘focus’.
i wonder what he means?
ed.
ok, I made it to the LHs tonight, I will do one of the following.
Hasegawa 1/72 m24 chaffee
Hasegawa 1/72 daimler mk. II
so we’re off as of today, I guess.
I’ll do the daimler. I’ll do a little bit of assembly this morning and do a little more at lunch and probably finish it tomorrow.
oh no, just when i thought i was making progress on my M32…
i had 2 check out this thread !
the temptation is almost too much 2 bear…
any excuse 2 pull something off the shelf & start building,
or finish something sitting around in an ‘almost done’ state is good, i guess…
my thought is 2 finish the airfix universal carrier w/ 6 pounder gun & figs.
then i can have a project that’s good 4 the towed gun build as well ! [;)]
(is this cheating ? ) LOL !

I’m working on the old Tamiya 1/35 Kubelwagen and a Tamiya Flak 38 anti-aircraft gun. But I’ve rediscovered how much clean-up work those old Tamiya molds are. [:(!] Lots to do in the way of parting seam clean up, and lots of ejector pins marks to fill.[banghead] I may have to just ignore them and take a “do it like I was 12” point of assembly!
Also, it’s my wife’s birthday today so I won’t be getting much (any) build time in tonight!! lol. But the Kubelwagen only has about 32 parts to it. The Flak 38 is about the same and both are basically single color builds. So who knows. I took pics of the sprews, but haven’t gotten them posted to Ron’s site, yet.
