VF-31 F4-J PICS

Hey Guy’s, first post for me. This is a VF-31 F4-J that I built for a friend who is a Viet Nam vet of the 1972 cruise. It’s the Hasegawa in 1/48 and built OOB with the exception of the decals that are Super Scale. All paints use are MM enamels applied with my trusty Badger 150. Deck crew are also Hasegawa and base is a corkboard. This is my second Has Phantom and just love this kit for it’s detail and construction ease. All coments and critisim welcome.

Very nice first time pics post. Well done!

A very nice build indeed, thanks for sharing it with us. Darren.

I’ve always been a Phantom Phan! That is some Phantastic work!

Outstanding!!

Very nice. Those are some sharp Phantoms.

Not much else to add to the other posts except they are a couple of sweet looking F-4s

Very nice! Keep em’ coming [:D]

Very, very nice looking Phantom!

Thanks to all for all the nice and kind comments. A lot of the credit belongs to you guy’s for sharing and showing all your expertise and knowledge, for that I thank you all. This is what makes this Forum so great. Some small modifications were made when I gave him the model such as he wanted it to have bombs, Mk84s as that is the most common configuration he flew it with and I also put a darker panel wash on it with pastel chalk as he told me their F-4s got pretty dirty on a long deployment. Another one for the dark panel wash argument.

Steve.

Isn’t that the one in your pic? Very nice.

Yeah Rudy, thats the one I have in my Avitar. I was with VMFA-333 in Korea and just loved those Phantoms. I am doing my own personal GBs of all the aircraft that I was working with while in the Marines. Still have a lot more to build. Thankfully I have a lot of good photos in my album for great refrences as I work through them. Thanks for looking.

Steve.

They had Phantoms in the Korean War?

Thanks no Rudy, I am not that old. We did regular deployments to Korea for Operation Team Spirit, a yearly joint exercise of Sea, Air and Ground forces with the ROK forces for prepardness for outbreak of hostilities.

Very nice build! I’m sure your friend is quite pleased with it.

Mark

Thanks Mark, actually he was shocked and surprised by the model. You see I built it withouth his knowledge and built it kinda as a retirement present. My ex works with him and she got some photos of his aircraft for me to work off of. He was thrilled by it.
