No, it’s not some weird B-36 hybrid. It’s the three aircraft in my “Fly by Night” project.
After a couple day’s work, I got the decals on all three of my nightfighters.
The Ta 154’s decals had a tendency to break apart, even after I applied a brush coat of Future to each one. The red warning dashes on the wings are pieced together in sections of 2-10 dashes. There are no aftermarket markings for this kit, so I use what I have.
The Me 262A single seater:
And the Me 262B:
I like the black lower surfaces of the 262B, so I included a pic of that as well:
Thanks for letting me share the progress with you !
Very nice models. I have never had much desire to do Luftwaffe aircraft, but I certainly admire those that tackle those complicted camouflage paint jobs.
I’ve said it before but I don’t know how you guys manage multiple builds like this. The progress looks great Pix. I like the black underside on the 262B too [tup]. Thanks for the look.
Looking great Pix!! For having decal troubles on the TA, you did a really excellent job of putting them back together. To look at them you’d never know there was any problem. I really like the 262b best of all, can’t wait to see finished products.
Thank you yardbird, razordws, maddafinga, didfal, and Flyingraptor !
yardbird - camo is probably the main reason why I build so much Luftwaffe stuff. Every one is different.
razordws - it’s not that difficult to build a few at a time, as long as the use the same colors for the most part. You change colors and clean the airbrush less often. THe only part I find difficult is keeping track of which pieces go with which kit !
maddafinga - piecing the decal back together was such a pain, I find it difficult to sit. [:O]
didfal - I get to spend a lot of time at the bench, so they move along pretty quickly.
Flyingraptor - painting is one of my favorite parts of building aircraft, especially Luftwaffe.
Thanks Joe, Rick, ww2boy, pingtang, Brian, and lerxst1031 !
The washes on the Ta 154 and Me 262B will take a while. I don’t do generic washes, I mix each camo color with black and apply it to the respective areas. The wash on the RLM 75 Grayviolet areas will have to be pretty thick, so that it doesn’t flow into the RLM 76. Anything dark enough to show on the RLM 75 will be WAY too dark on the rest of the aircraft, IMHO.
reggie - the single seat 262 is Trimaster, the two seater is Dragon. The Dragon kit was produced from the same molds with a different fuselage, less photoetch, and no white metal parts.
