That sounds interresting… It would depend on the dates though…
Did someone say GB? Oh, I have the KV-1. Yeah it depends on the date. They have some great releases coming up.
I just made my first Trumpeter purchase - 3 kits:
Selbstfahrlafette L/61
USMC LAV-25 PIRANHA
Chinese Rocket Launcher
So I’m locked and loaded for a Trumpeter GB. I’m building an M12 for the Self Prop Arty GB, but I plan to take my time on that one, and we have till Dec 2007 to finish. I’m impressed with the high quality of this Academy kit and I want to really do a good job on it - and I might even take a break until my weathering and finishing techniques are a little better than they are now.
The Trumpeter LAV-25 woud be my choice for the GB. I was sort of looking for a reason to start on that kit.
Anyhow, if you do decide to start one, you can count me in.
Larry
Get on to Treadwell and we will see what we can do about amalgamating with this one but you could end up waiting over a year.
Mail either Tread Or myself.
Terry
Okay, lets make this group build a little different from other group builds. I think we should allow any scale and subject. It is preferred if the kit is unbuilt or just started. This way, we can all see the progress. I think there shouldn’t be a time limit on this build. I don’t believe in rushing art. You can use any aftermarket you want. You may kitbash and scratchbuild to your heart’s content. You are encouraged to try new building techniques to improve your building skill. There’s only three rule in this group built:
-
Do your best
-
Be creative
-
Challenge yourself
The whole purpose of scale modeling is create a masterpeice like no others, and have fun while you do it. I invite you to think outside the box on this build, think BIG. We all enter this group build at different skill levels and experiences, but I want everybody who joins to get something out of it. I want everyone to do their best and not be scared to mess up. Because that’s how you get better. If you make a small mistake, there will be lots of helpful modelers here to help you. I want you to be able to say, “Wow, I really worked hard, I have created a model I’m totally proud of, I made a lot of friends on this forum, and I had a lot of fun!” by the end of this build. That’s all the rules for this build.
Ok, I’m in. I won’t feel rushed with the no time limit thing. I hesitate between Sturer Emil, Marder I or the Hotchkiss Beobachtungswagen H-38
You betcha that I’m in on this one. I’ve got quite a few of their kits, bu also a project or two in working, so when they’re done, I’ll jump on this.
That faun transporter has been eyeing me, but that may be a litle too lengthy of a project.
You can count me in on this one,I really enjoy building Trumpeter kit’s.
Since Bill’s thread on his KV build I’v been eager to get started on the one in my stash so I’ll be doing that.Got a couple of other projects to get finished up then I’ll be ready to start.
hey guys:)-- some of you may know i am doing a 1/16 t-34/85 build-- for about 10 months so far–i have many past progress reports( search ‘treadwell’)-- and post continual updates-- — i know the idea here is for a fresh( i.e. new ) build, but, i still have a long way to go with this one , and would be happy to help and share hints, pics and have a good time-- the 1/16 quad halftrack does not come out till springtime and is my next model - so on that basis , if it works for you guys, i would like to participate- :)-- treadwell–
Great build you have going Treadwell.
Does Hobby Boss count? I understand that this is another brand that Trumpeter have. Their 1:48 T-34 has an interior, which is based on the 1:16th model.
I’ve been working on the M4A1 for the past few days (it has a few fit issues, though).
Or HobbyCraft? Old junky, but hey. Cheap.
I was wondering if the interest has subsided in this Group Build. I just finished my M12 for the Self Propelled Group Build and am ready to tackle something new.
If the interest is still there, I’m ready to begin one of my kits. My interest in building a Trumpter kit was rekindled recently after reading the fact that there were only 2 ever prototypes ever built of the Selbstfahrlafette L/61, and that one of them knocked out 22 Russian tanks before being captured. Of the two that were built, one was destroyed and the other is in a museum somewhere in Russia.
If the light is stil green on this GB, please change my subject from the LAV to the Sturer Emil. And I will commence the build.
Thanks,
Larry
Yeah I totally forgot about this. This is what happens when the starter of the thread doesn’t pay attention. Well organized GB’s need a formal start and finish date, otherwise, they’ll just drop off…such as appears happened with this one. Maybe we should e-mail him…
Yeah, lets start at 12/15/2006 and end at 2/15/2007. I think these month will be great because I can work on it over the winter break. I always wanted to see a build-up of a hobby boss t34. It would be great if you can join us. Do you guys think we should allow Dragon kits too? They are competitors and it would be fun to compare their kits. Plus, dragon makes some pretty good stuffs too. I am thinking of picking up a KV-2 or whatever Trumpeter kit that appeals to me. I might get a hobby boss 1/48 sherman. They looked pretty tempting… Well, it would be great if you hadn’t started working on the kit too much if you want to be a part of this group build. But if you did a really great job on a Trumpeter, Hobby Boss, or Dragon model and you want to share it with us, that would be fine too. Its cool to see what masterpieces you guys can creat from simple plastic and paint.
So I guess hobbycraft is out.
I’m out… [:(] I’m involved in too many GB at the same time… Completely forgot about this one []
Hobby Craft? I’ve never heard of it before. But if you want to, you can show us what you can do to an “Old junky, but hey. Cheap” kit. Surprise me.
Okay, you guys talked me into it, I’m in. Got an old 1/32nd A-10A N/AW Warthog calling my name; bought it a few years ago from a hobby store that had it sitting on the shelf for over a year. Seeing it every time I went to the store, sitting up there on the shelf all by itself, I felt sorry for it and, in a moment of weakness, bought it. It looks like a pretty good kit, though; by the time I bought, it the store had marked the price down about 20%.
Never heard of Hobbycraft? I’ve got two or three of their kits, including a 1/48th Su-27 (in progress; Flanker GB) and an F-111E.
