Trumpeter 1/48 Wyvern S.4.. (Pics)

This one was built for the FAA GB. Pretty much OOB except for an Eduard PE interior detail set. I also drilled out the wing cannons & replaced with tubing.

A very nice kit. Only problem was the fact that the kit is designed to show the wings & wing tips folded, but I wanted to display them extended. This complicated the build, but it’s doable. Painted with Model Master enamels. Decals are mostly from the kit with some from Cutting Edge.

Thanks for looking. Comments welcome.

She’s a beauty, Rick. The flat finish is perfect. You really nailed this one. [tup][tup]

Looks great rick. You didn’t by chance have this at the show did you?

Outstanding Rick! Always love seeing your work and this one does not disappoint. [bow]

Amazing build! Looks like it is ready for a mission [tup][tup]. You should be very proud of it.

Dang! Now I wanna build one!

Beautifully finished wyvern you get there! Congrats!

Wow! Amazing work. That’s a sweet looking bird.

Crap, now I’m gonna have to add that one to my so-ugly-they-are-purdy stash. And here I thought I was done buying kits for a while.

Way cool. Do you have any in-progress pics? I’d love to see more. Flook! [8D]

Thanks for the comments Guys, much appreciated.

Stan, yes, I had this one at the IPMS Region 4 Model Show in Cleveland. Sorry we never hooked up, I would have enjoyed meeting you, but it was a big show spread across the two main rooms. Maybe next time.

Regards, Rick

Rick, I can only ecco what others have said! Bueatifull! My, I like to see builds dirtied up abit. But yours IS great…Harv

We did meet. Me and dragonfly (jerry) talked with you about it. we were the ones who thought the drop tank was a torpedo. jerry asked you about the exhaust pipe color. So close yet so far. That thing looks great. the pic just don’t do it justice. I came back and looked it over several times. Very nice work rick.

dirtball… Thanks for the comments. I usually don’t weather my aircraft much & the Wyverns were kept pretty pristine in any case.

Stan… Well I’ll be danged. I clearly remember the conversation, but had no idea that was you & Jerry. Wish we had got around to intros, might have clicked in. Thanks again for the comments, wish the Judges had agreed with you [BH]. But I can’t complain, the competition was stiff & the models that placed were very deserving. Actually, I did pretty good at the Show. Entered 12 models in 10 categories & took 3 First, 3 Second & 2 Third Place Awards.

Regards, Rick

Rick, congrats on your winnings! I am aware of personal choicesof weathering. some like, others dont. I do like it, but I know a quality build whether its used or not, and yours is deffently a quality build! Would love to see your other entries. They would appear to be all top notch!! Mabey you`ll post pics of themm(hint, hint)…Harv

Thanks again Harv. I’ll probably post a few pics of the Award winners in a seperate post. First, gotta let my camera battery recharge. If you like weathered, I have a Grace that you’ll love [:D].

Regards, Rick

SHOW US PICS! SHOW US PICS! SHOW US PICS!

I hope that wasn’t TOO subtle!

Rick:

Dumb question–that’s the early Wyvern kit, right (I notice that Trumpeter sells two versions)? Just want to make sure I buy the right one.

Hey Rick, as soon as I saw this post it hit me. I knew I saw that model over the weekend. I do remember talking to you and Stan about your Wyvern… we just didn’t make the forum connection. Guys…this truly is a gorgeous model and must be seen up close and I can’t believe it didn’t score. It sure looks like a winner to me. I’m sorry we didn’t have a chance to talk about your other entries. Please do post up some pics then I’ll remember which were yours. If I’d known you were going to attend I would have definitely found you. Congratulations on all your wins Rick!! I’ve been admiring your work for years. [bow][bow] Maybe next year I can properly introduce myself.

regards,

Jerry
