I know the instructions in Aber sets are normally horrible also. You really have to know what you’re doing. But in the 35K01 set, the instructions are very comprehensive and complete. They need to be I suppose with all the PE. It would be easy to get lost.
I think y’all can overcome the Eduard thing though. A simple brass angle bent to the proper degree could be added to the back side of the fender . Just a thought.
Ted, I have not purchased my PE yet. Just doing my research before spending money on stuff since the budget is not all that good. But thanks for looking into that for me.
Wow has this not started yet
is there a 6 month time limit or 4 your date systems all different over there from here
Day / Month / Year like over here
or Month / Day / Year ?
thanks
i was just reading some more of this thread, and found out
you should leave this group build in the Armour forum
the panther group build is lost forever in the group build forum and there isnt even a link to it from the armour forum
—The BarrelDepot barrel has been replaced with a Jordi Rubio. The BD has been backordered for over a month with no sign of coming through anytime soon so it’s been swapped.
Still holding out for my backordered tracks though, Bill Wolfe has been excellent in working with me on this one for sure. Kit and parts ship tomorrow sans tracks, so should be here within a week or so.
my experience in the panther group build kind of put me off aftermarket indie tracks (ie non-dragon)[:0]:
for 3 months all i read were horror stories about them continually breaking [B)](modelkasten mainly as i recall), taking an age to drill out the holes (friul - now why can’t they get this done in manufacture??[:(!][:(!] otherwise don’t charge so %$£*ing much for them!) or just simply not fitting[:(!][:(!][:(!]
also bear in mind that these were all experienced modellers - it was not a bunch of rookies (no disrespect).
i bought dome friul tracks for my churchill last year and couldn’t believe all that drilling required, especially when i don’t think that they look a whole lot better than good vinyl tracks; the panther is prob on of the few models that needs metal indies with the holes in its teeth.
please feel free to disagree or point me in the right direction…i’m keen to learn new techniques, but just put off when the even the top guys can’t get the things to work!
Nicholas, sorry to hear about the troubles with the friul tracks. I have built a few sets of MK tracks and haven’t had any problems. I know the ones for the Tiger have 2 guide horns, so that will be a pain, but worth it in the end. Although the Rubberband tracks are pretty respectable in the kit. (Yes I have been peeking[:I]).
Anyway, where are you guys gonna start? I know that in the Trumpeter 1/16 T34 build, those guys laid out a complete schedule. Can’t say this would suit me, but just for giggles, I figured we could at least let everyone know where we started and how we plan on getting to the end. There’s bound to be a stuff learned from seeing how others organize their build.
I plan on building the engine compartment first. There’s a bunch of Modifications that need to be done to the kit to get all that stuff in there and there is some Mods that I don’t have a clue on doing. There will be a lot of questions from me.
If you are building OOB, please let us know your sequence. If you followed the directions by the number or skipped around and any problems that may arrise.
Im sorry that you had some problems with fruimodel tracks, i used them on my Panther on the group build and thought they are great
i used Dress making pins on mine, i didnt need to drill them, i just pushed the pins in and snipped the ends of after, the tracks bent to the side realy bad like Larry Dunn found but they sorted themselves out with bending them back and forth
a photo of them test fitted to a Jagdpanther im working on
