tomorrow is December 4th, right?
That would certainly make for an interesting end to Daylight Savings Time…
[:o)]
do we have a group build badge yet??
[:)]
hello, anyone there?![:)]
and when do we become “sticky”[:p] over on the group build side?
nmayhew,
I am working on a badge. It will be ready in time for the start. I can’t remember if we decided if we should wait for finished pics before posting the badge. I am leaning toward this and making a second participation badge, sort of a temporary thing until the project is complete.
As far as the Sticky thing. I have asked twice for the moderators to do this, and to no avail, so, here it sits. I think the build gets enough exposure in the armor forum. The week before the start, I will post a thread in the GB forum and let folks know it’s here.
Give me feedback, let me know what y’all think.
Ted
I personally prefer for the thread to stay here instead of getting chucked into the maze of stuff in the GB area. Given the fact that it’s an armor build that will be going on for 6 months, keeping the thread here (it’s already 20 pages) would make more sense instead of moving it over to the GB forum. Just my [2c]
Doesn’t matter to me. I don’t mind it here, either. Easier to get to, plus it won’t get moved too far off the first page with all of us posting.
I like the idea of leaving it on the armor page! Whatever works best for the group is fine with me. Semper Fi, mike
Cool, here is where it will stay. And if you want to use PE and AM stuff, there will be no guilt in this build. I hope to have the badges finished by the weekend. This build will be one for the books.
Ted
I also like the idea of it staying here in the Armor forum. The Idea of having 2 badges is neat. I really like it when other members are able to hold off on putting it on there sig until they are finished, its kinda like an award.
I am having some troubles on my dio layout. (I love dios and, I want to make this a good one) I origianally wanted to have jut the tiger and creww riding down a road. Now I want to and 1 or 2 more vehicles. I was thinking an Opel blitz loaded with fuel drums and jerry cans, and then maybe an Sdkfz 251/1 or kuble. What do you guys think? Or Do any of you have some neat ideas?
I just saw a great dio over at missing lynx, with a tiger that ran over a mine. It was awsome!
Just one last question, do any of the tiger (tamiya) kits come with some interior or like under the hatches? thanks
john
One month and counting!!!
ahhhhhh 1 month!!! Can’t wait
yes they do i think - nothing major, but enough to look good in a dio etc etc
I was thinking of a dio with the Tiger in a refit-depot type scene, maybe sitting on the side of the road in a town-type setting while being reloaded with fresh ammo, fuel, whatever, with a column of Infantry or PzGrenadiers or something walking by.
Or, I might just do the tank by itself and save the dio for the Pz IV I want to do next.

JOHN WALKER!
Hello Ted,
I would like to join the GB. I bought the kit today and I really looking forward to build the same model with a group of people. I don’t think I will spend a lot of money on the AM, maybe only the Eduard-stuff.
Greetingd,
Gerard
Got a call from Bill Wolfe at Hometown hobbies last nite. He’s priority mailing me my Aber35K01 detail kit. What a heck of a nice guy. That means I will have everything I need for the group build. Now when is 1 Dec ? I’m ready! After reading so many of the posts on our group build thread about dioramas, I’m kind of tempted too maybe try one on this project. Now I’m really getting in over my head. Later guys, counting the days. Semper Fi, mike
Got a question for those who have the Aber PE. I’ve been looking at the Eduard PE side skirts and it seems like they are missing the top lip, where the skirts would wrap over the bolt plates on the hull. I was wondering if the Aber kit is like this, or did they do it right and make the skirts with this top lip.
ggerrits@freeler.nl, Welcome aboard. Did you get the Tamiya early Tiger? I will add your info as soon as you let us know. No worries about the AM stuff, just build and have a good time. This should be very informative for everyone.
netglitch, the Aber set does have the turned up lip/flange. They also give you the bolt bosses, but they need to be folded up. If you have the MK tracks, they give you really nice ones with a weld seam and all. Either way, it will a bit fidgety, but that’s the fun I suppose.
yw18mc, glad to hear you are going to get your stuff. Bill is a good guy. I need to go to New Orleans for work soon, so I plan on visiting his shop. I think he has a Brick and mortar. We shall see.
Ted
darn, I missed that on the Eduard. Eduard makes me mad sometimes. Today, it is because of their terrible instructions. They vaguely point to an area where parts go
