The 65th Infantry Regiment, 'The Borinqueneers'- Rearguard to the 1st Marine Division at Hungnam

This is my next project. Figures from Dragon, Def Models, Master Box, Hornet Heads along with a resin structure, an Asuka .50cal M2 machine gun and pieces from my parts box round out my Korean War diorama. Here’s a pic to start it off.

With this winter snowstorm hitting my area, I took advantage of getting some work done. I basically built eight figures, but I’m thinking of addding one more. Well, they are primed and ready for painting. I also have AFT transfers/decals for their uniforms.

I think that the Korean War especially in figures has been overlooked by the model manufacturers. Good luck with your project.

Good work on those figures! Korean War figures are so hard to come by.

That they are. But late WWII US and Commonwealth figures can be used. At least a portion of them can be used for the 1950-1951 period.

Totally agree. I look forward to seeing the WIP on this project too!

I got some work done. The ammo boxes and gerrycan were painted along with Ma Deuce. I’ll probably weather it a little more. The rifles were also painted, then I proceeded to the heads and faces. Through my eyes they look pretty good, but when photographed the camera makes them look ‘yucky’. Well you be the judge. Well on to the next pbase.

They look like they are cold. Fitting for the current weather.

Hey everyone. I’ve gotten the preliminary paint job on the figures done. Then its onto the tweaking, fold wash and highlighting. Then adding uniform ranks and insignias.

Thank you all for your comments.

OK, I know they might look the same, but I did give the figures a darkened fold wash followed by a lightening dry brush. The camouflaged helmets really show the work. Enjoy the pics

Looking good Manuel! They’ll look good in a frozen landscape!

They certainly look cold. Bring on the snow!

I can honestly say that sometimes inventions and/or innovations make lazy men of us. I discovered that I ran out of Testors DullCote in the spray can. Fortunately, I still had some of the original DullCote in the square jar. I hooked up my bottle feed airbrush and proceeded to dullcote my figures. IMHO, they came out better than when I use the spray can. From now on, I’m using the old dullcote. BTW, some figures received their unit and rank decals. I’ll tweak whatever needs to be tweaked. Next is the structure. Enjoy.

Hello everyone. I’ve finished the structure and I’m very pleased with it. It has that ‘kitty corner’ aspect for a diorama, which is fine. It was painted and weathered with acrylics, oils, pigments and pastels. Unfortunately some parts will be obscured by the snow effects. I’m also planning for a sign above the doors. Enjoy the pics and any comments or critiques are greatly appreciated.

Looks very dramatic. It will provide a terrific backdrop for your diorama.

I decided to add some more items. A 55gal. drum fire and a wintry tree. Tbe tree is still a WIP.
