Tamiya P-47 Razorback 'Magic Carpet'

Finished up my first build of 2012 with a slog session last night - Tamiya’s stupendous P-47 Razorback wearing the livery of Col. Holt’s “Magic Carpet” of the 390th FS/366th FG/9th Air Force.

I’ve wanted to build “Magic Carpet” since I saw it in the Y-29 episode of Dogfights some ways back.

Overall, this one was an absolute joy. Aftermarket included an Ultracast seat, Ultracast wheels, Eduard placard set, Master blast tubes and Zotz decals. Thanks for looking!

After cramming to get this one done in time for ModelFiesta, well, the effort paid off, and “Magic Carpet” took 1st in 1/48 Allied Single-Engine Props! My first category win!

Well done Doogs! I tried to take a look at it today, but it was being mobbed by the judges! Good show too! Bought waaaay too much stuff.

Cheers,

Greg

Meeee too. Awesome deals…but a whole lot of them!

sweet build Doogs, and a nice trophy to go with it! Those decals came out great.

I thought you were banned from buying any more models - “deals” or not? Hope your wife doesn’t see this post![;)]

Nice work on the P-47! I’ve never seen the combination of an OD fuselage and NMF wings - but I like it!

Holy Moley!! Ya knocked that one right outta the park with the bases loaded, Doogs! The 'pit is a masterpiece - extremely well done, and I must agree with what’s been said about the paint scheme - the mix of bare metal and paint is a neat combo - looks great! That award was well deserved! [:D[

One sharp Razor Doogs! It’s always a pleasure to see something different from the box art and well known aces. And congratulations for that win you deserve it.

Magnific razorback Doogs , congratulation for the 1° place [t$t]

Another fine build Doogs. Congrats on the win! [t$t]

Congratulations on a fine build and the nice medal as well! She’s a real beauty, I really like the combination of paint and bare metal. That’s an eye-catcher! Well done Doogs.

As I was going down through the pics bythe time I got to the 3rd one I already had my response written in my head. It was going to be…

“Masterfully done. I fuly expect to see this with a 1st place trophy next to it one day.”

Now if I could only get a vision of a set of 6 numbers for ther Powerball…[whstl]
