Finished up my first build of 2012 with a slog session last night - Tamiya’s stupendous P-47 Razorback wearing the livery of Col. Holt’s “Magic Carpet” of the 390th FS/366th FG/9th Air Force.
I’ve wanted to build “Magic Carpet” since I saw it in the Y-29 episode of Dogfights some ways back.
Overall, this one was an absolute joy. Aftermarket included an Ultracast seat, Ultracast wheels, Eduard placard set, Master blast tubes and Zotz decals. Thanks for looking!
After cramming to get this one done in time for ModelFiesta, well, the effort paid off, and “Magic Carpet” took 1st in 1/48 Allied Single-Engine Props! My first category win!
Holy Moley!! Ya knocked that one right outta the park with the bases loaded, Doogs! The 'pit is a masterpiece - extremely well done, and I must agree with what’s been said about the paint scheme - the mix of bare metal and paint is a neat combo - looks great! That award was well deserved! [:D[
One sharp Razor Doogs! It’s always a pleasure to see something different from the box art and well known aces. And congratulations for that win you deserve it.
Congratulations on a fine build and the nice medal as well! She’s a real beauty, I really like the combination of paint and bare metal. That’s an eye-catcher! Well done Doogs.
