What do you guys think of this as badge for completing the build?
Looks good to me. ![]()
I think it looks good and easy to change if you decide to make this an annual event.
The TV showâs theme song was pretty corny:
But it started the franchise that lives on till this day. Donât you just love the disco elements in the beginning?
âMoe agare, moe agare, moe agare, Gandamu! Kimi yo~ hashire!â
Is it a bad thing that I actually watched the entire intro? ![]()
Ha ha! You watched it, it is now stuck in your brain! Oh~no! ![]()
Oh no! âGundamuâ earworm!! ![]()
Here, watch this. You will feel better.
This is the second season opening to Dragonar, a less serious show than Gundam but still a lot of fun to watch.
No disco influence there. Thatâs all 80s.
After watching the introâs, I am very perplexed⌠on many levels. it was like watching MTV from the 80âs.
No Grasshopper, you understand fully. The 1980s was all about MTV.
Thank you everyone for the feedback on the badge. Sounds like as a first effort itâs a serviceable option.
Plenty of time left to finish up kits. Great WIPs and completed kits so far. Iâm excited to see whatâs shared next!
I just received a notification that the next issue of FSM is coming out and guess what the cover story is?
I always look forward to the issues with sci-fi and mecha builds in them. Iâm curious to discover how the topic is covered.
Did you see that one of the Special Theme Awards at the 2026 IPMS Nats in Ft Wayne, IN is âGundam RX-78 - Back to the Beginning: Any variant of RX-78, from any manufacturer, or any diorama featuring an RX-78 variant.â???
FSM does an excellent job covering Sci-Fi and Mecha genres. I love reading the Letters to the Editor in the following months from crusty old modelers complaining about them dedicating an entire issue to non-mainstream models. ![]()
That is awesome. In no way does my first Gundam model look anything like that cover model. Color me jealous. ![]()
I had not seen the IPMS Nats had that as a category. I must have been channeling them when I put this GB together. Just call me Miss Cleo. ![]()
Iâve learned a lot from their coverage of the subjects, and I canât Iâve ever taken that level of glee with letters to the editor. lol
Iâd guess their cover story is based on a Perfect Grade(PG) Gundam which has a lot more detail to it than the Entry Grades kits you and I completed. Those PG kits have some jaw dropping detail, but are way outside my budget.
This was my first attempt at running a GB and have been a bit worried that the timeline set was a bit too aggressive. There were some great starts on kits, but weâre a month out from the official end date. Iâd like to make sure everyone has a chance to finish what they started. You guys want some more time to finish up?
Thatâs pretty cool! I hope lots of entries show up in that category. Just that theme award would be a major draw for me, but âunfortunatelyâ I am planning on heading to Japan for the Shizuoka show in May 2026.
Yeah I know, boo and all that.
But I look forward to seeing the entries. I hope there are some jaw-droppers that show up.
A buddy of mine went this year - looks amazing. Definitely on my Bucket List.
If itâs anything like the past few years, there will be some amazing builds!
