Just to get a sense of this specific forum, is anyone building anything resembling ships from the new Star Trek movie? After seeing some of the new ships, I’d love to get some kits (make my own?)

I think I might have to add this to my Enterprise collection. But so far this is the only kit I have seen from the new movies. But not seen anyone building it yet.

I think Revell Germany often release their kits here first before they get across the pond. But no doubt it will be over there soon, to big a market to miss.
That one looks good – would LOVE to see the Dreadnaught produced.

Hobby Town USA on Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas has a shelf full of the new Enterprise models. I saw them yesterday. $58.95 maybe? I really didn’t look but now MrsG wants one.

Yet the movie is released overseas before it is here and this model is released and only available in Europe!

Online response in forum. People really trashed the film version of the ship.
Also, pre-orders weren’t high enough.
If it’s a Star Trek Enterprise I will build it. Even a butt-ugly one is better than no Enterprise!
And it’s not THAT bad. I like some bits of it very much… the saucer section.
Hate the Bridge though. Looks like a bloody Vegas Casino.
If memory serves, there was a negative response to the “D” from ST:TNG…
I think after DARKNESS, the new enterprise design gained a new respect from me…
NJJ-1701 is a characture IMHO.
The exterior itself, I don’t mind. Most of my criticism was regarding the technical aspects that were completely ignored, the scale issues throughout the first movie, and the “USS Anheuser-Busch” interiors. I can understand trying to do something different, but the JJ Enterprise interiors completely ignored “form follows function” and made it completely chaotic.
