I just finished printing the Spacex Starship from flight 13 in 1:60th scale, working on the OLIT now which will take some time.

It’s hard to imagine Starship is comparable in size to the Saturn V, especially when you see it on TV. Outstanding Work!

I agree, it’s difficult to imagine just how big it is. I think it has alot to do with how simplistic it is visually. I found this interesting composite photo someone made showing the size comparison.

I’ve been working on a jig to help in assembling the tower as well as the structural components that make up the tower ie: floor frame and V bracing. The V bracing started out as simple box beams but I’ve since modified them into “I” beams.

Made some progress on the tower, this thing is going to be huge. I’m dry fitting the parts before I start glueing it together.

LOL, my garage ceilings are over 10’ so I’m safe there, the tower should be about 8’.
I found a piece of plywood just the right size, this gives me much more room to work. I’ll have to eventually place everything on the floor to work on the tower at a comfortable height.
My plan is to build the tower in sections then install them one at a time. But first I need to finish the base and flame trench.

I had to do the same thing when I was building the 1/72 C-57D!
The tower is growing section by section, I’m up to 50" tall and having to work with it on the floor now.

The tower made it to 6’ then I ran out of parts, printers will be going all night.
This should make for a pretty cool display when done.

All the main tower sections are complete, it’s currently just dry stacked. The last of the “V” braces are on the printers as well as the top beam.
My next task is to move down to the flame trench, had to order alot more filament.

This morning I added the last of the “V” bracing as well as the crane beams up top. I think I’ll be adding stairs to each floor so at this point I won’t be glueing this thing together just yet.

A bit more progress to report.
I’m almost finished printing the parts for the flame trench (3 more to go!). At 20hrs per block it’s taking some time, luckily I have several printers running.
I also started printing the cladding for the side of the tower and test fitting them. I still need to make a few adjustments with my design.
That’s it for now…
