but well, most of mine are quite old and aren’t the one’s that I’m most proud off, but anyway,
My first plane ever, the C-47 ‘Berlin Skylift’ from Revell
Don’t know how many I made one this one came along, The B-17F Memphis Belle,
Did this one with the Ultra-cheap shitty paint gun from Revell, this model is the only one that not on display in my room, it fell apart after a year
Think this one was the fourth, the nothrop P-61 black widow…
Built this one in the final days of august 2010, A Supermarine spitfire
The best Revell plane that I’ve build so far, the Aichi Val type 99
(an ex-Hasegawa kit, it even had the same decals)
And last but not least, A 1/32 A6M Zero type 52
In the background is an 1/32 Ki-81 Hayate ‘Frank’ wich was my second model ever…
That kind of concludes them, I still have 16 Revogram boxes laying and waiting to be build.
No i have about 3 in construction status, A mosuito, a dornier Pfeil and an P-38 lightning that I’m making for a friend’s birthday (In my eyes, that final kit is one of or even the worst I’ve ever handled…

A current project of mine is a 1/72 scale Norseman float plane. Its a re-release of the Matchbox kit by Revell of Germany.
Building for the Search & Rescue GB. Progress is slow at best as bench time is very limited these days.
Hope to change that and get this lill’ plane done!

Im no where near the skilled modeler Ive seen some of you guys crank out… but for the most part Im happy with my builds and Im getting better. I love Monogram/Revell kits simply for the price and quality or what you get. I cant justify dropping 40/50/60 $'s or more on a kits If I don’t believe I have the skills to turn in into a prize winner or close at a contest. So here’s a few of my favorites…

Since this thread has become active again, I’ll update you on my p-38 that I posted - Touch up painting is done, I’m now finishing the detail paints, and about to clear coat, weather, and decal it. I got a Squadron vaccuform canopy for it, and it fits so much better than the kit’s canopy does. I will post pictures of the finished product.
In other news, I’ve got a 1/72nd scale EF-111 Raven on the bench, it’s mostly assembled and awaiting paint.It will be decaled in Cannon AFB’s livery, since I live in New Mexico (needs a fair bit of filling and seam work). Also, I have a 1/48th scale F-15E Strike Eagle, UH-1 Huey Hog (building as a standard UH1) and a 1/32nd Bell H-13 (MASH) on the bench as well. They are all awaiting paint. I build a lot of revell kits because they’re nice and cheap. I’m also renovating a B-29 that was given to me built but in poor condition, flaky decals, missing parts, etc. It’s looking good already. Still need to get the gear and bomb bay doors replaced, but I can only order 5 replacement parts at a time. I’m almost there. After replacing all 4 props, the canopy, and the decals, she’s looking good.
Oh, and i forgot the 1/144 B-52, the 1/48 MI-24 Hind, the 1/48 AH-64 apache and the 1/48 F/A-18 Super Hornet.

Back when this kit was a new release and I just started painting models instead of just glue bombing them together I built this SBD Dauntless dive bomber.This would be late 70’s or early 80’s ish…
The kit featured a working swinging bomb release! Cool stuff for a young lad.
Never kept the boxes just the instructions for all the kits I built as a kid. Out west is a large box of them all in various states of disrepair and broken bits.

That’s the myth, Rabbit… A lotta guys think that Monogram and Revell kits aren’t “Contest Quality” kits and that you need to spend the money to win… It simply isn’t true… Put a well-built, 12.00 Monogram P-51B against an average-built , 50.00 Tamigawa P-51B and the Monoram kit walks away with the gold…
Sure, you have to do a little more to them because they don’t have the wheel-wells done, or come with photo-etched cockpit gizmos, or metal barrels, but if you develop the skills to make and add those details, then you’ll likely already have learned the skills you need for the rest of the model… From what I can see of your talents, you’re doing just fine…
A high-end kit won’t win you a trophy any more than a Monogram kit will… You keep working on those Monogram kits and developing those skills, and before long, you’ll be entering (and winning) with them… That goes for Lindberg, HAWK, Testor’s, whatever…
In the end, it’s the model__er__, not the model…

I appreciate the point, but it can be made without exaggerating kit prices. $12 vs. $22. Or if you want to go for a starker contrast, $12 for the P-47 reissue vs. $30-35 for the Tamiya kit.
I dont know where your finding $30 for a Tamiya P-47. But jump on that deal. All the LHS around here carry those for over $40. And yes, the Tamiya Mustangs are not quite as pricey as they used to be. But Hasegawa is sure not doing the “Walmart price rollback” on thier MSRP. But the basic arithmatic is that you will pay two to three times as much ($12 vs. $22-$38) for a R/M Mustang vs T/H Mustang. At least at Great Models.

EDIT- But the point of this thread is not to go back and forth about pricing as elsewhere of kits R/M vs T/H. The purpose is to show with photos from the members here of their completed builds that the R/M kits are not the “junk” some folks on this forum quickly blanket reply when a question is asked about a kit. I like my Tamigawa kits as well. The proof is here- the kits are not junk. It’s all up to the builder.
And that RAF Fort and beautiful big Apache above are just two more shining examples.

In my opinion, model kits are like DVDs or pickup trucks. If you’re paying full MSRP, you’re a sucker. Ordering a P-51 off Tamiya’s site is basically the same as walking into one of those record stores that used to be in malls and plopping down $25 for a CD you could get for $12 at Best Buy or $10 on Amazon. If you want to. It’s your money. But I think it’s stupid. If it’s about supporting the LHS, well, then in my opinion it’s up to them to recognize the market reality and at least meet you halfway. My LHS offers 20% off above a certain threshold - making them certainly competitive, especially with brands that don’t ever really get discounted…Tasca or Bronco…
I will grant, Tamiya and Hasegawa are probably the worst in terms of MSRP inflation, but it’s very easy to find them for totally reasonable prices, especially Tamiya, Hasegawa and Dragon kits (the sales on Dragon’s online site are stupid-good). Somewhat true with Eduard’s stuff as well, but that tends to be more hit or miss I’ve found.
Probably smarter still to just sit on your hands until another one of those Squadron black friday sales…but willpower only extends so far!

I love all of these builds! I am also on a tight budget for modeling even though my wife doesn’t think so.
Thought I would send in my tip for buy cheap Revell models. Print off Hobby Lobby’s 40% coupon and buy any of their Revell Kits. I paid under $20 for this model, http://shop.hobbylobby.com/store/item.aspx?ItemId=169887 as well as tons more.
Just my 2 cents about cheap modeling.
