everbodys doing a great job so far. As for me heres where i sit just finished repriming after i replaced my weld seams and finished filling some more flaws. So she is almost ready for paint still have to attach the rear gaurds and the propeller’s and shaft’s.

Wow, everyone is really moving along on their kits! Nice job everyone!

I started my Wright Flyer. I got the wings and flight surfaces painted, and started painting on the wood frame/supports. I also carved out notches on the propeller chain drives to make it look more like a chain. There is still more detail painting to do before I start on any assembly. I’ll try to have pics up later.

Are the Revell kit markings international because I found this quote on the web about jumpsuits from a Delta Dart pilot? “We made a point of wearing out international orange flight suits in the Officer’s Club (so we could be seen if we bail out over the North Pole). They wore the standard green flight suits (so they wouldn’t be seen if they bail out in Southeast Asia).” I would like to know if anyone could tell me. I got orange paint and would be happy to change if necessary.

Cool, I will be building 1/32 scale P-38 Lightning. Thanks. [:D]

Tony, Leave it the way it is! I’m planning to paint the flight suit on my Six’s pilot figure green too. Either way you go it will still be right so it doesnt really matter.

Air Master

I think I read that same story… the guy was stationed at Langley, right? AFAIK, the Six was never stationed overseas. But ADCom was absorbed by TAC around 1980, and the ANG and special programs (B-1 chase, NASA, etc) probably wore olive suits too. But the orange suits look so cool…

Those of you building the Gato class submarine might be interested in this. The USS DRUM, SS-228 was the very first of the Gato class and the only one in commission at the start of WW-II. She is preserved at the USS ALABAMA Battleship park in Mobile, AL, and there are several web pages devoted to her, (and her namesake, SS-667, nuclear attack boat). Check those sites out for detail shots. I took some pictures of both ships several years ago when the sub was still floating in the bay. She has now been beached and is on supporting piers with her entire hull visible. I’ll see if I can find those pics and post some of them.

Depending on how accurate you want to be I have found some stuff in my E-Book (it won’t let me copy but will get around that when I get home next week)

USS Growler SS 215 Electric Boat Company Groton, CT

In 1942 she received the cut down and back fairwater which is accurate with the Revell Kit. Your next problem before you paint is according to Synder and Short she was in MS9 paint measure until she was sunk, she never wore the 2 tone gray, it seems alot of the subs were that way in the Gato class.

MS 9 is black Horizontal and dark gray vertical.

I have aload of S-Video Cables at home sure the wife doesn’t watch much TV anyway

I will tryand get the pictures I have to you next week if interested.

Try These

Na thats ok iam just gona paint it as is. Thats what really pisses me off about revell US we have subs here and a hole butload of info in the archives and they cant evan get on frickin sub right. i think they need to just close there doors and close up shop.

Thats my story and iam stickin to it[:P]

basicly the same pics i had from my squadron book.

smokinguns3- Your progress is looking great. Almost makes me want to start mine but I’m waiting to see what after market comes out. From what I can see in the Warship pictorial book every Gato was different. Conning towers varied, there were 2 different 3" deck guns a 5" deck gun some boats not many but some had two deck guns. One fore and one aft of the conning tower. Anti A/C guns could be three different 20MM mounts or a 40MM mount in different combinations.

Ya the armerment was all up to the captain of the boat at least thats what read.

And thank you as of right now shes all masked off and it getting dark my spray booth isnt big enough to paint this thing in, have to wait till morning.

ok jin, i have the kit. now to see if i can get the conversion sets in a reasonable amount of time. i am a maybe. (a strong maybe but still a maybe)

Hope you are not getting to much snow yet there in Rochester, Syracuse got hit quite bad.

Well on the the other side of Lake Ontario, we just got a dusting of snow. That is it. No need for a snowbrush for the car so far. (Knock on wood.)

Silentmodeler, where in Rochester are you from? My wife and I both grew up there.

ADleitch, thanks [:D]

ADleitch and Supraman, yeah I got some snow up here yesterday and two night ago but not enough to cover the grass. as right now its sunny outside and im sure all of snows will be gone soon. and its nice to knowing to have a neighbor nearby rochester.

Madroc, I was orignally born in Illinois then moved up to rochester after I graduated from NTID/RIT. I live nearby where Lilac Festival is located. so its will be easy for me to walk than seeking a parking lot [(-D] but the walk distance is pretty far lol.

My P40B Flying Tiger is on hold now since im going to chicago tomorrow for belated xmas with my family so i shall be back to rochester next week. its almost done tho.

looking forward to see all of your models smiles
