Revell Monogram Group Build!!!

Nice!!!

Can’t wait to see the final product [:D]

jinithith You are doing a fine job, you’re here when needed and always offering words of encouragement to us pretenders and wannabe modelers. I want to be a modeler not just a kit builder and these group builds are helping me more than you could know. So, cheers to you [#toast]

I agree, Jin kicks butt [party]

ok, i couldn’t do much modeling today; I had to clean my room. It was all dusty and drity. But now it’s not! Here’s some pics of my 1:1 scale room:

And here’s my workspace. really, it’s my desk (not so clean)

and here’s my other workspace. (also not so clean) please notice the fish tanks kept ever so close to my poisonous modeling substances.

mk, Look closer because I do see the black stripes on the handles.

Here are the photo references I used to paint that bad boy.

We do what we do to take pics, I took mine through the magnifying lamp.[8-] I’m really liking what you have done so far, I’m looking over your shoulder picking your brain and eating your knowledge.[BG]

Thanks for the compliment Tony! Just leave me enough brain to get this bad boy done. LOL[(-D]

Just to prove to you I’ve done something, here is the hull and decks of the Titanic. If you look closely you can see a wide swath of putty along the keel. I am just drooling in anticipation of trying to sand it!

Hey guy’s, I have been watching this GB and thought it would be a fun build, so if it not too late I would like to join with a Monogram C-47 that I will be building with the SSGB as a crossover.

Steve

Your lucky i built 2 and i mean 2 of the 1/350 kits and tolk about warpage and fit issues, the second one i bought when i was on leave for exedus (army X-Mas break) and was going to light it with fiber optics lets just say when i was glueing the main deck on the hole thing snaped in half mind you it wasnt an ice berg the sank mine.

By the way its lookin good and so are everyone elses builds, iam just priming and sanding and priming and sanding and priming and sanding god i hate revell[BH][:D]

I will have time this afternoon to check the references for you.

The boat I am building is USS Silversides, Revell in their wisdon based it on the boat as is today a museum, according to the references I have she was never 2 tone gray and black during the whole war. Why do they show the periscopes as black in the instructions and all the box art show them gray?

All the pictures of the boats in the back of the intructions show the subs mascot on the sail but don’t include them on the decal sheet, and how did they miss the four exhaust ducts, 2 on eac side?

What size wire did you use for the cigarette deck cabling? Would like to try that if I can find some the right size.

ADleitch I am doing the same thing and I found that 30 gauge wire, is a near perfect fit for me. As I am just a beginner, 100% is not crucial. 90% is good enough for me.

Check your refs, but you might want to use TAC or ANG markings for your jet… I think ADC pilots usually wore orange flight suits (the kit instructions are incorrect.) For all you rescribers out there: are you scribing around the raised detail, and then sanding it off, or what? I have a couple more Six Packs in my stash (courtesy of a clearance table at Hobby Lobby) and those kits and a scribing tool are the only modeling stuff I have access to during the week so I was thinking about scribing one one of these days… Nice Mich ANG markings BTW… I have that sheet as well and plan to use them next time I nerve up to build a Six.

Who knows i read that they used the uss cobia for refrence all i know is revell needs ti grow up start doing things better.

As for the wire i dont know the size but can tell you i canabilized an S-video cable to get it.
