Revel Ford Gt Le Mans 2017

New WIP, this kit was on sale a while ago, I thought it looked like a fun challenging build. Going to start looking on the web today for some building tips/tricks.

The steering wheel decals just didn’t look normal at all, the colors didn’t match the molded buttons and the screen just looked off. I removed them and tried doing it myself. I just picked random colors.

I’m always surprised how much construction there actually is with auto builds. Good choice on painting the instrument panel - looks good.

Looking forward to seeing how that color scheme and the decals go on!

The body decals are going to be a challenge for me, I have a habit of overthinking things and making it much harder than it needs to be. I love doing armor but it feels like cheating when I can just weather over my mistakes

Finished the roll cage, got the dash installed, painted and installed the cooling system, started on the suspension. The second piece of exhaust that connects to the headers didn’t fit correctly at all, so I’m currently messing with that. All in all so far everything has fit well, minimal clean up is required. It’s been fun so far.

Well I was able to sit down for a bit, although I was really side tracked but I got the front rotors installed, got the exhaust figured out and installed, painted and installed the intercoolers. Painted up the rear intake and thought it was the perfect opportunity to try to make some hose clamps, I had some left over heat duct tape and cut it into strips and installed it, I was pretty proud of it. I installed the rear intake only to realize you can’t even see the clamps . Anyways I was feeling really good about this until I started looking though the pictures Tim posted of the NNL west then I was like ok I’m done for the day lol. Those guys are so talented.

Not much progress in the last few weeks from being sick, I did however dry fit the rear duct bottom and I went to clamp it in place, the clamp was apparently too strong and it pulled the frame loose, broke the right side exhaust and the duct bottom took flight… I called-er a day after that. I’m feeling much better so hopefully I get back at it today.

I managed to put-er back together today… Got the rotors wheels and tires on, and the upper air intake on.

Every post I confirm to myself why I’m not a photographer…

These kits do build up into some great looking finishes and it looks like yours is headed in that direction Demo.

Glad you’re feeling better.

Pics look good to me, Demo. Well-lit and sharp.

Good recovery on the Ford (and your health)!

Will the body shell on this one be permanently fixed, or magnetized to show off all that work you’ve done? Forgive me if I have the terminology or “normal” procedures wrong here – auto builds are totally new to me.

You outta try one Tom. I’d be willing to bet you’d do a great job with one.

I am just starting a GT 40 of earlier vintage. Still, I think there is much that I will gain from following this thread.
