Regia Aeronautica GB II (06/15/09 to 06/15/10)

Guy, very excellent work for any scale but in 1/144, wow. U da man

Steve

Let me introduce you all to Guido. I think he got a concusion from tht last landing though cause one pupil is bigger than the other.

Guy- Shame on you for trying to pass of a 1/32 plane with a giant whats-it next to it as a 1/144 kit! [:O] Wait a tick…

AAACK!!! It IS 1/144! How the heck do you guys do that? And, w/o an Optivisor to boot? Think I found the answer to those smoke rings LOL. MC-200 Trop [;)]

Oh, yes… almost forgot.

I love Dave. [:o)] LOL

[bday] SC! You old man, you.

Well thats a relief. Thought I was going to have to elevate Guy to airbrushing GOD status for doing those smoke rings with an airbrush in that scale. [;)]

Sorry for the delay in posting final pics fellas. What with the daughters b-day, finger painting and of course the super bowl (YEAH STEELERS).

I am calling this one done. In the pics it looks like I have to trim the antenna wire a bit. Now for the breakdown, Hasegawa 1/48 kit and it was a beauty to build. Macchi 202 and I added Mike Grant instrument dials and smoke ring decals, Eduard PE belts. Paint is MM enamels and the panel wash is with pastels mixed with water and dish detergent. Pastels also used for exhaust and gun stains. Some silver pencil for the hatches and wing root wear and tear. Hope you all enjoy. This is a great GB and this was the only RA kit in my stash but would not mind doing another now that I am hooked on RA aircraft.

Thanks for looking and this place is a blast and so much fun, really great work going on here and great comradre. Hope I can build another if time and a kit presents itself.

Steve

Man I’d love to been a fly on the wall when you watched that game! Bet you chewed all the paint off your/ er I mean your daughters fingernails! [(-D]

Now to business that 202 is auclantically spontafical! That is what it is all about and I surely hope you can do another soon! Well done Steve! [tup][bow][party][oX)][#toast]

Love the 1944 Penny! Just noticed it! Guido huh I though it was a self sculpture? Must be the eyes! Looks like it is his fault! [(-D] Great work on a very little man! [#toast]

Razors, I like your little Guido, very well done. The 1944 penny is a very nice touch by the way

Steve

Thanks for the comment Aaron or at least I think it was a good comment. Is that your own language or Italian.

Wheeee, I hit the 1,000 post mark

Steve

Sheesh - Take a day to the City and the board goes into overdrive. Lots of fine work being showed off today.

Guy - That little plane is unreal. It boggles my mind those little 1/144 size kits. My hat is off to you for such fine work and scratchbuilding the office. (your a sick man [xx(]) [#toast] [(-D]

SC- Happy Birthday , Hope you get time to stop by the Hobby Shop before or after Dinner [tup]

Dave - I just knew you were going to come in here with a figure that looks like he should walk and talk. [BH] [(-D] The penny is super cool also - do you collect “wheatheads” I have many zinc coated 1943 if you need one.

Steve - Everytime I see your Chi~202 I am amazed [tup] That is one fine build. I think you should submit it to the readers gallery. [#toast] to your # 1000

Steve, that’s a mighty fine looking build! [tup][tup] I use pastels too but I just brush the dust on dry and then seal with a clear coat.

Congradulations to your Steelers and on the 1,000 mark [party][8-][#toast] I was able to watch the second half of the game and I thought they were toast but they pulled it off.

Thanks Aaron and Steve for the comments on Guido. I figured if I was going to use a enny it should be a period piece. Unfortunately I don’t have any Italian Lire from that period.

Sean, I don’t usually go to such detail on figures but you and your Alex MADE me do it. It’s all YOUR fault. [;)]

I don’t actively collect coins but have kept many over the years that have showed up in my change. My grandmother kept stashes of money (coins mostly) all over her house and when she passed away they divided up all the coins amoung the grandkids. I was quite young at the time and most of the coins were of a vintage nature so that got me going.

Guido- I love it Dave! (Was that close enough Guy?) Didn’t notice the “1944” at first, good idea though. Hope the little fella doesn’t drive you mad waiting for his plane to be built. [tup]

Steve- That really is a beautiful example of a Folgore, absolutely breathtaking! [bow] And, congrats on 1000 posts! [party]

Does anyone know if the Italian Co-belligerant Air Force was still considered the Regia Aeronautica? Or, after the armistice did the RA disappear and the otherbegin? I really don’t knowmuch about the subject. [:I]

On a side note, I got an email yesterday from PCM about my Regia 109G-6 decals. They said:

"Dear Mr. Daniels,

Your order #6626 for SKY 48011 is on backorder. I will e-mail you if
it comes in. Thanks and

Best Regards"

Excuse me, but IF it comes in? [%-)]

Well Frank looking at the rules on page one which are very strict in their nature and knowing the sheer brutality of the GB leader I would think the Italian WWII part has you covered in any build of the Three Italian Air forces that were in the war.

The Co-Belligerant AF was up and running right after the Armistice as was the ANR on the side of the Germans. The Facist planes actually were dressed in German markings briefly (about a month or so) Until the ANR was organized and running after Hitler recued Mussolini.

After the war everything of course became the RA again so it is really just a choice in what you want to represent.

Now A 109 in Co-Belligerant colors? Never saw that it would be an interesting representation to see a 109G on the Allied side.

I’m certain Guy would give his blessing and give it a ceremonious ritual. [tup]

Wow Steve 1000 post? Been a member since 2003? You need to talk to Frank about Comsec! That is amazing!

Dave, isnt Guido, italian for Guy? I dont know, but that figure is great. I may have to send a couple your way for you to work your magic on them.

Steve, That is gorgeous. Those decals look the buisness. Really. They look sprayed on and you have totally convinced me that my next build is my Hasa 205. With quality like this from you, you have to build another. Get down your LHS young man. This GB needs you.

Frank, the rules for this GB are very strict fella…err… well strictish…err infact as long as either the plane or the markings or the pilot, come to think of it, are Italian, then its in! Told you we were strict here. Its all Daves fault remember. The rules have been ammended as my 205 will be in German markings LOL.

…Guy

Thank you everyone fr the Birthday whishes. The big 4 3 for me.No hobby shop gift certificate this time but I think I have enough kits stashed to keep me busy for a long time.

Steve that is once awesome Macchi. She looks perfect.

Frank that really stinks about the decals. Maybe there are other alternatives like Aaron suggested. Either way you can always blame it on Dave.

Guy I like the tiny Mc 200 and thats some small airbrushing there. Whats with the funny coin in the pic?

Mabye tonight I can finish up on the Re 2000 and start thinking about a second build!

Soulcrusher[oX)]

I know im the most incompetant Host of a GB but could everyone check the front page and let me know of any ammendments (Finished builds, changed builds etc etc LOL)

…Guy

I kinda figured you were just writing everyone down as doing a 202 Folglore! Cut and paste! keep it simple. I got did the RE 2005 and the Smer MC 200 Saetta and you said I did a Folglore? Thought that was a rule? It’s Dave’s fault me thinks! Good thing Frank loves him! [:X]

I am looking for a standing figure like a mechanic or some such. This is a funny model because it’s sort of a 66% PBY in size and it really needs a scale figure, but it’s going to be on its beaching trolley and it’d look dumb to have the pilots in their seats. Any trades?

Bondo - can you be more specific as in aprox. how many mm’s (not the candy type) tall ? I have a bunch of figures held hostage in a coffee cup.
