Regia Aeronautica GB II (06/15/09 to 06/15/10)

Welp I think I got it, I even test fitted the wheel and tire to make sure it would slip in place.

[

GearThank goodness for quick setting CA otherwise I would have never made it.

Hmmmm that picture is giving me a Halifax flashback. The gear looks exactly the same as the FM Halifax set up. You got it together the same way!

[tup]

I’m here! Spent most of the day at the bench working on 109’s. Both of the fuselages are smoothed, polished, primed and rescribed. Also did some work on the canopies, fitting and dipping in Future. Punched out dozens of styrene discs to fill ejector pin marks too. Also fabricated a tool to make tiny phillips head impressions for the screws that hold the spinner onto the backplate. Riveted the spinner, and finished up the LG bays. Nothing photo worthy I am afraid. [sigh]

Sean- Man, it tkaes skill to model like that! My hat is off to you for your abundant modelling skills. I don’t know how you do it, and make it look so easy too! [bow]

SC- Mmmmm… I likey! That lil’ hotrod looks awesome, and the LG is on- YAY! [party]

Thanks, I could not think of any other variances for the parts to go together. [(-D]

That Halifax “wheel nightmare” was why I did the test fit. Somethings I do remember [:-^]

Frank- Thank you for the kind words of encouragement , I only take pictures of the success stories. [;)] Glad to hear you are making progress with yours. Custom made tools now ? Ooooh too Cool [8D]

Thanks Sean. I think the red nose really saves what would be a kind of vanilla looking build.

Aaron she is pretty short. It is shorter than a 109 if you can believe that, but alot chunkier in width.

Thanks Frank the landing gear was not quite as bas as I thought it was going to be. The gear doors rest agianst the opening so it created a little more surface to glue. I’m hopeing the strut rods will box it in and give it some extra strentgh. Still a little bit more to do before she is complete. Might have to do another seeing as there are so many people still building. It is going to be tough to pick one out of my stash because I have so many Regia aircraft in my stash. I’m sure Frank will be able to convince me to build one of them.

Il Postino delivered a big box to me on Saturday, and inside is a nice older model. It’s considerably smaller than a Catalina, and nicely molded. The decals are going to need the window treatment for sure…

Here’s a prototype pic, quite a beaching rig there. The kit has a simpler one.

This thing is pretty Porco Rosso!

That one looks like it could keep you busy for awhile there bondman. Looks like lots of tiny little parts for the carpet monster.

Soulcrusher[oX)]

Bondo - That is a Terrific looking kit. Question do you only build seaplanes ? The decals look pretty good except for the clear backings . How soon before you start on it [:)]

Bondo, now that is a very cool lucking seaplane. Thats one I am looking forward to seeing built.

Steve

Wows! that is just a beautiful Flying Boat! Very sleek and graceful. I thought it was much larger but now I wish I had one to fly around in! Bondo I think that is a classy choice! It has your name all over it and hope to see it come to fruition very soon! It’s going to be a beautiful model to be sure!

Sean, Nice work man, on the tail the added styrene makes all the difference. Excellent wheel bay as well. It looks solid in a fiddly sort of way. It looks like not a bad kit really, so far. The LG doesnt appear to have too much flash and has gone together well. A testimony to your skills.

SC, On its legs!!! Woo hooo. It really does look like a great colour scheme. Was the plane inspired by Bertone i wonder LOL.

Bondo, that plane is gorgeous. Why dont the Big Manufacturers realise this and produce these wonders. Theres loads of gorgeous seaplanes that are just crying out for the Tamigawa treatment.

Frank, your last post was lacking something! Who was it again that you loved? [:D]

…Guy

P.s, i watched the start of that super bowling thingy you have over there. Your national anthem is a real ‘Sing along tune’ isnt it? Also which one was it? The one Faith hill sung or the Star spangled Banner. (All good National Anthems should have the word ‘Spangled’ in it. LOL.

Well my sweet little thing is coming along. I got the top and bottom coat on and added the tiny strengthening plates at the wing roots,

Then came the biggy, I set my airbrush to its finest setting and started on the smoke rings, [:-^]

…Guy

That is crazy skills! [:O] You make me want to do another! Cool smoke rings andthat Airbrush must be the Elfmate 2000 plus! [tup][(-D]

Guy I think the red nose was probally inspiried by Enzo Ferrari. You Macci is looking pretty cool. Thats some darn fine airbrushing there Guy! I can’nt help you with the Superbowl music. I never turn it on until the ball is actually on the field and they are playing. I can’t stand the 4 hour commercial that preceeds every Superbowl!

No modeling for me tonight. Big birthday celebration for me![bday] Going out to dinner with my girlfreind. I’ll have to catch up tomorrow with you guys.

Soulcrusher[oX)]

Nice one, And [bday] Michael. Dont drink too much and have a great day. How many candles on this one then Big Boy?

…Guy

Well Hot Patooty, bless ma soul. Ive finished a build without too much hassle and stress. Here she is in all her minute glory,

…Guy

That airbrushing [D)]

[:O] Guy, I can’t believe you did freehand smoke rings in 1/144th scale. [:O] Comeon… tell the truth. You scaled down the mike grant smoke rings and printed your own decals right? right? Please say yes. Awesome build regardless! [bow]

SC, [bday] you old goat!

Bondo, I’m really looking forward to that build. Awesome choice! [tup][tup]

Was a rather dismal weekend bench wise for myself. I finished painting guido and though not as good as Alex he’ll do. I took some photos and will try to post tonight. I butchered the mask on the canopy and will have to redo it before I take it into the paint shop.

I finally recieved my kit today! Ca Cr.32. Very nice looking kit and I’m looking forward to getting started.

Now I have to get the bench cleared of current projects so I can dig in.

Happy Birthday Soul Juicer! 43 wow we be the same age! Ceptin I no paints my fingernails! Have a glorious B-day! [bday]

Guy that Saetta looks the bomb! 1/144 too is there no sacred realm in which you will no tread? Only the most mojo filled modeler would attempt to do those things you did after your bad PC experience! Guess those cheerleaders worked! Seeing what else I may have in the stash!

Wonderbaugh! Ein beer bite’ ! [tup]
