Thanks so much! I’m heading home in 2 days unfortunately but I am having a great time! I love all of the military history I was able to experience (even though Switzerland never went to war!) - including the fort and seeing an air base in the alps. I also went to a flea market today and picked up a POW letter from a German in Africa - I will post it in a separate thread and maybe someone will offer to help translate
Looks like a well spent day in the bunker.
There was a kid skateboarding around after school in the hallways as I was coming back from debate practice, and he was yelling things like “THE PRINCIPAL IS A B*TCH!” and the security guard started chasing him down, saying things like “You think you’re on top of the world, huh? PUT THAT THING AWAY RIGHT NOWW!”
It was pretty funny
Ahhh high school! So happy I never have to do that again!
Boy, I’m so glad to be retired from teaching.
That will be me soon! At least some funny things happen occasionally but mostly it is boring as heck - except for my friends they are amazing! :3
- Bought a vintage Swiss army coat (the one the soldier in my pfp is wearing)
- will get time to scale model today & finish up my figures
- I’m going to visit embassies next week
My daughter has struggled with school since COVID and the lock-downs. There was a time when I wondered if she ever would finish. She dropped out a couple of times, but always went back. Today we received notification that she has successfully completed her high school requirements and will graduate in roughly a month.
So yeah, I’m smiling ear to ear over her ability to stick to it and overcome the issues she faced over the last few years.
Congrats Aggieman! I’m so glad that your daughter stuck with it and graduated. The pandemic and lock down was difficult for my students too.
Congrats!! COVID was hard on all of us students, and it really did impact our learning (I have plenty of learning gaps thanks to that…). It’s great how she was able to overcome her struggles - wishing her all the best in the future!
Günther Prien, a (cute) U-Boat ace who I am in the very early stages of drawing
Honestly that nose is very difficult to get right
@Comrade_Shmersky It was hard on the parents too, but for different reasons. Many younger folks are going to be saddled with the negative effects of that for potentially the rest of their lives. But something I’ve learned over my years is that you should never stop learning. My profession requires it or I’ll be left behind (software engineering). From your posts, it sounds like you’ve done well.
@Aggieman , @Comrade_Shmersky,
Covid was a tough thing to live thru. My son is a teacher, my daughter-in-law worked in assisted living care, another worked in sports management. I could go on but the thing is that be thankful we got out of it and be proud because students maybe had it the worst.
I just say congratulations to your daughter Aggieman and Comrade keep up the good work!
Looks good Comrade. I just finished reading a biography about Gunther Prien, “The Bull of Scapa Flow”
I was at a national competition these past 2 days, very fun and even tho it was in DC it was still exciting
I also went to the UAE embassy and got a selfie with the Mexican ambassador
I’m kind of obsessed with him now so I may need to read that
Thanks, I am trying my best! Unfortunately I just learned how to add fractions this year…(something I missed in COVID, we didn’t even have virtual school just straight up no school for like half a year)
“cute”?!
are you deadass rn
Yes I am. He has nice smile
