Oof I’d like to remember exactly where it came from !

My previous, old, abandonned moniker was wolrajh, the french traduction for volrath, the main villain of the tempest block from 97/98 magic the gathering.

Nobody cares however since I ditched that one later, maybe between 2005 and 2010, in favor of “coin” which, in french, is the sound of a duck - yes, it’s the translation of “quack”. To avoid confusion with the English word for money, I replaced the c with a k. Also, k was a tongue in cheek dab at the overly complicated roleplay fantasy names often sporting lots of ks and gs and zs.

The Dr, for doctor unsurprisingly, I’m not sure. Maybe because I liked to play mad scientists, or because it sounded distinguished. Sometimes it’s Doctor sometimes it professor. When Borderlands 1and especially 2 came out it cemented the title : ever heard of drZed, who sells you medicines? " I am legally obligated to tell you that I ain’t a real doctor". DrKoin, professor Koin, captain Koin : nobody knows how they got the role or what they are dr/professor/captain of exactly… And they sure don’t know themselves either !

Anyway yeah it’s basically a funny sound.
As for the avatar, it’s Kevin the bird from Up. I’m always very amused by funny or silly looking animals, Kevin was a very silly bird.
Nowadays I sport a tibetan fox as my avatar. Judgemental fox is judgemental.

Great story Demolition! If I used your philosophy of choosing something that I spent a lot of my money on in my early years, my forum nickname would either be Monogram or Jim Beam. Merry Christmas.

When I first joined this forum, I unfortunately used my real name and I didn’t know how to change it even though I would like to change it to a clever nickname and since I have no technology skills, I don’t have image and haven’t posted any photos of my builds.

If you wanted to FSM admin or Tim could assist in a name change I believe, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a few posts in the past that Tim helped with.

My grandfather was “Mister Mac.” My dad was called “Skipper Mac” after he joined the Navy.
I wound up as “master Mac” for time, changing after commissioning. While at Little Creek, a SCPO decided I was to be “Cap’n Mac” and that stuck.

82 is from my Class Year at Texas A&M, as we are all inculcated to identify by Class year.

Which becomes something we tend to hold pretty dear.
Avatar was me dressed up 11 NOV 16 when I turned in my papers.

My nickname has been ‘Sher’ which was short for Sherman, my favorite character in finding Nemo, which was my favorite movie as a kid. It’s eventually morphed into Shersky/Shmersky and I think it’s a pretty cool name and also personal - which is why I use it online. My profile picture is a pretty cool Swiss soldier, since I’m from Switzerland.

A long time ago in a workplace far, far away, there were three men named Michael. In an effort to distinguish us, the GM dubbed us Michael, Mike, and me Mr. B! The moniker has stuck for several decades. I’m a minor celebrity in many parts of Northern California for reasons I won’t explain for continuing anonymity. I’m a musician (drummer), songwriter, fisherman, competition shooter, Husband with three kids and five grandkids. I enjoy long walks on short piers, playing in traffic, and endurance sleeping. My wife beats me.

I am a die hard Arkansas Razaorbacks fan so Hogfan is the name. And my avatar is from when I used to do motorcycle track days. I was close to doing CCS club racing until I crashed bad and ended that dream…
