Those reskits are amazing products. That should buildup to be very impressive.

I went to Japan a couple of weeks ago and these came home with me.
A quick trip to the internet revealed the narwhal model has a “fatal flaw” - the tusk is supposed to be on the LEFT side! No biggie, I’ll just perform a little rhinoplasty and move the tusk.
And in addition to the model stuff, I also picked this up, for giggles.
The package design makes it look like a plastic model from the 1960s-1970s, but it is giant isopod curry. Yep, there’s real giant isopod meat in this thing!
Fortunately, it tastes perfectly normal. I did detect small bits of something like shrimp, but no odd taste/smell/texture. It was okay actually.

Made a stop at the Hobbytown in Dallas while traveling over the past weekend. Went in with the idea of “no kits” … and surprisingly came out with no kits. Although like the Star Wars Dark Side, I was strongly tempted on a couple of kits. But I did bring home some supplies. The Tamiya rattle can is metallic mica red for a Porsche that I will be building eventually, although soon since I now have the paint I want for it. I’ve also long wanted to try out this Revell cement, so when I saw it I picked up this tube.
This kit came from eBay yesterday. It was still shrink-wrapped with a Hobby Lobby price tag sticker, and yeah, the book is in the box.
I have a pre-order Airfix Bf109 in 24th scale coming from Squadron tomorrow. Or at least that’s what the UPS tracking says.

I’ll try to make a long story short if possible. Please bear with me as I explain.
I had a best friend named Chris that I knew for nearly forty years. We had a LOT of common interests during that long time. Sadly, my best friend passed away back in mid May. Fast forward to June now and his wife and sister are asking for my help cleaning and organizing his house and all his stuff. One interest we shared was model kits. After his passing, I asked his wife and sister if I could have all his model stuff and they agreed. But whether this is all of it is unknown as there could be more models hiding in the basement or other areas of the house that need organizing. Please excuse any pics that are blurry. What I was able to bring home today will need to be catalogged and gone through to make sure there’s no missing parts and other items.
What will happen to all the models once I’ve finished catalogging them, I don’t know. I haven’t thought that far ahead yet.
BELOW PICTURE:
This is a TAMIYA USS New Jersey kit that was missing the box top.
The large brown box underneath contains a 1/350 scale USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A that my friend commissioned somebody to make for him. Unfortuneately, the box was sitting in his house for maybe 3 or so years unopened because my friend never had room in his house to display it. Gonna be fun to unpack this big bad boy and hopefully there isn’t any damage to it. I’ll keep people informed as days and weeks go by.

This is a scratch built 1/350 scale USS Montana battleship model I built for my best friend back between 2003-2008. I gave it to him as a gift as he was a Montana fan. When he passed away, I asked to have the Montana back.

Supposedly what is in all these brown boxes plus the little blue container is parts to build a German Bismarck battleship model. It’s from a company called Agora Models. Anybody ever hear of them? It was some sort of subscription service that my friend got into and recieved a box every month or so. All the parts are pre-painted supposedly. Just need to put them together with a few tools I think. I don’t even know if this is all the boxes. I can only hope nothing is missing.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate it. How many more models I find in his house, I don’t know. He never kept anything in a “central” location. I know there were some broken built models I saw today. I wasn’t able to pick those up. And if and when I do, I’ll probably just salvage them for spare parts.

My latest is Airfix’s big Bf109G-5/G-6. Looks like a good one just by drooling over the parts in the box.

I noticed that Newtype had Mr. Surfacer primer in stock – having never tried it, I figured it was worth grabbing a bottle for testing. 'Sposed to be the best stuff out there, right?
And this Trumpeter Blitzwing model was on sale, so into the cart…
Odd story for any Transformers nerds on the Forums; anyone familiar with the original franchise probably assumed that this character, appearing in the beginning of the Bumblebee movie, is Starscream, since his color scheme and robot design clearly recall the 1984 Starscream animation model. But no: it’s Blitzwing.
Legend has it that the writers fully intended this to actually be Starscream, but were told at the last second that since Bumblebee kills him in the movie, which is a prequel to the other films, in which Starscream is definitely alive, they had to use a different name. So they used Blitzwing.
Doesn’t matter, of course, since his name is never said aloud in the film, and his alt-mode is an F-4 Phantom II, which is neither Starscream’s F-15A nor Blitzwing’s MiG-25… in any case, I thought it was a cool model and now, someday, I’ll build it.

All the smaller 1/700 scale ships (particuarly the WW2 US Navy ones) that I posted further above, I think my friend Chris had this idea about 15-20 years ago of building a large scale Pearl Harbor diorama and that’s why he bought all the small scale ships. I think he even had a large wood bench/table made too that is still sitting in his house’s basement. But as the years went by, the idea of a large Pearl Harbor diorama never went very far.

I recently picked up the Star Wars Legion Crashed X-Wing set on clearance at a local Gaming Store. It comes with 4 base pieces and lots of parts.
I decided to make a diorama out of it and hacked away at the bases to combine into one base. Used crumpled up tin foil and CA to fill in the gaps and covered in watered down Mod Podge.
Next step is to prime and fill in any remaining gaps.

Took a trip to Chicago to go to a game at Wrigley. Found a small shop selling a very small collection of kits. Brought these home.

I went to my first model car show last month, the NNL North event in Inver Grove Heights, MN. Came home with some kits I’m going to attempt to build up. Each of them will have some unique challenges I’m very much looking forward to overcoming.
The 73 Cougar is going to be a pro-touring car, may add a Coyote 5.0. It’ll be lowered with custom AM wheels and a sweet paint job. The 69 Cougar Eliminator was a $5 parts kit, missing window glass, tires and interior tub, but it has a 69 Mustang roof grafted on it, so I’m building it up. I thought the GTX was a complete kit for $15, but turns out its missing the taillight lenses, door handles, and headlight glass. So that one will become a custom hot rod. I’ll improvise the missing parts and find what I can in my parts stash.

I’ve had a few things come in since my last update here….
Some uncuffed props for my Monogram B-29. There are a very old injection molded styrene short production run item from pre resin days
I also picked up a set of AM decals for my Sdkfz 251/9 project.
Not sure when I’ll get around to my B-29, but I’ll be using the 251 decals in a couple of weeks…

That’s a nice acquisition, I wish there was a formal “trade” area in this group. I have 5-6 kits that I’m planning to move on from, and would love to trade with others, but I have to go with ebay instead of just telling my friends in this forum.
