Latest purchase arrived today
I will use this on my current 1/24 Hellcat build. The kit included pretty much everything, but in this scale, I really needed there to be a grill at the back of that big grinning intake.

Stopped by Hobby Lobby as they had the Testors Thinner for my dulcote and glosscote. Found a AMT Construction Bulldozer. I guess itās based on a Caterpillar but it has no markings so who knows. I picked it up because it looked interesting and no other reason. Also 40% off.
That bulldozer kit will be great for exhibiting your weathering skills.
I stopped at hobby lobby this afternoon because of your picture. I couldnāt talk myself into the bulldozer but I did get the '34 Ford pickup and some sheet styrene.
I think my original thoughts with the bulldozer was the old John Wayne movie āThe Green Beretsā with the Seabees fighting the Viet Cong from it while retreating. But at 1/24th scale I donāt know where Iād get figures for it, but once the hook was in, I was caught again. 40% off made it worthwhile.
Also another person on here is/ was building a bulldozer too which really was the reason I got it. Something different. Something new.
Tom, yes it will get dirty. lol
Iāve seen guys add a protective roof/cage to this vehicle. The do make a lowboy trailer if youāre looking to display it in transit. Was that John Wayneās son āPatrickā who was the Seabeesā commander in the āGreen Berets?ā
I donāt know but I loved the movie as a kid.
Very nice score⦠Hobby Lobby has been getting some nice kits lately.
This came the other day in the mail. Three neat little kits in one box. As most know, the more recent ICM offerings are head and shoulders better than their older kits, so hopefully these three will keep me busy and happy for a few weeks.
What a great set of vehicles. I might have to look for this set.
Yay! ICM! I am a religious ICM buyer, half because I love the box art and half because the kits are good
I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and this little truck caught my eye. Iāve never done a pickup before. I focus on aircraft.
Pop, that ICM three pack looks like a great deal. Any figures included?
A couple of items have shown up in recent days.
First up is a new cutting matt, although I suspect I wonāt be doing much cutting on this one.
Next is Trumpeterās new Fairey Barracuda. The Barracuda is likely among the ugliest airframes that have ever been designed, but ever since I did Special Hobbyās kit several years ago, Iāve wanted to do another by a less challenging manufacturer. I never actually thought anyone would kit one given that sheās a relatively obscure British torpedo bomber, but here she is. My plan for this kit is to do this one along with the Fairey Fulmar and Fairey Battle that Trumpeter has released in recent years. Call it my āFaireyā build.
Iām oddly interested in funky looking planes. Donāt leave out the Gannet! The new Airfix kit looks beautiful⦠well as beautiful as a Gannet can be lol
aggieman, I do like your plan of doing a collection of Fairey aircraft and while it is a very unusual plane, Iām going to have to agree with keavdog about the Gannet being the most ugliest plane ever.
Yeah, the Gannett is so ugly only a mother could love her. I might grab that Airfix kit, Iāve read that itās a good one. That would give me a near complete collection of Fairey aircraft. I donāt currently have an Albacore or a Firefly, but Iām by no means an expert on all the aircraft Fairey manufactured.
Can the Trumpeter kit be built in the āultimate extreme origamiā mode, i.e. all folded up? It makes an ugly plane even worse!
But I like the Barracuda! Let us know how well the kit matches up with the real thing. The lads over on Britmodeller have been raking this kit over the coals, mainly complaining about the chin shape, the canopy sides being curved not flat, and something about the wing leading edge where the wheel wells are located.
If the kit is more or less Barracuda-shaped, I might spring for one.
@RealG Yes, it can be built with folded wings.
I have seen those same gripes about the Trumpeter Barracuda. I have standards in this area. If I pick up a P-51 kit that doesnāt have that belly air scoop, I am not getting it because itās not a Mustang. If that same kit does not feature the fillet along the spine going to the rudder, well, it is still a Mustang and I may very well get it.
It has to look like the subject it is intended to be. I am not going to be bothered if the chin is not quite right, or the fuselage lacks proper curvature. I just want to build the Barracuda again, having previously built the Special Hobby kit.
